Well now that I have had some time listening to them its time to share this with you. I have the most beautiful Polk speakers in the world. Thanks go to fellow Club Polk Member, criverajr/Carlos, who sold me the speakers and kept them in mint condition and my buddy Tom who helped me pick them up. They really sound wonderful. I have been moving them around alittle trying to find the perfect spot and think I got it now. I will have 4 RDO-194's in them sometime next week and am making plans for the x-over upgrade. I will also use Dynamat on the drivers and PR. Once these things are completed and tweeters and caps burn in I will be ready to sell them, NO WAY! I almost forgot I will also do the binding posts too.
I have spent quite a bit of time reading threads and have learned alot. Thanks to everyone who has helped all of us by posting informative information so we all can enjoy our Polks more and more all the time. It seems to me thats its never ending which is a great thing.

Thanks always,
Drew Crawford

    Drew, you are so right on many counts. They are great, placement spots get only "more perfect", it IS never ending, and that is a good thing. Let me know how the upgrades go. I have a set of 2's I'm planning on upgrading in January. Right now I'm listening to some 1C's. What upgrade components are you going to use?
    Sony 60'' SXRD 1080p
    Amp = Carver AV-705THX 5-Channel
    Processor = NAD T747
    Panasonic BD35 Blu-Ray
    Main = SDA-1C Studio with RD0s, spikes, XO rebuild, rings, I/C upgrade
    Center=Polk CS10, Surround = Athena Dipoles, Sub= Boston 12HO
    Music/Video Streaming = Netgear NEO550
    TT = Audio Technica

    I agree totally as I own a pair of SRS 2's that have the RD0 tweeters and upgraded crossovers (Solen caps and Mills resistors), terminals, etc. I should be getting the parts at the end of this week to change out from the blade/blade IC to an XLR type connection similar to what Raife (DarqueKnight) did to a pair of his SDA's. I finally got them set up in the living room and out of my office and, of course, they really opened up. Now I just need a bigger 2-channel amp since my versions can't be bi-amped.

    avguytx, when you did your upgrades did you replace the inductors, poly-switches, internal cabinet wiring etc? Did you change any cap/resistor values?

    My plan for now is to use Sonic caps for the upper x-over (tweeters) and Solens for the lower x-over (drivers) and Mills resistors. However, at the time I place the order I will probabley order all Sonic caps for both x-overs. I have yet to find reason to use any other caps but if someone has solid reason to use another I am sure I'll hear about it. From ehat I have read it Sonic or Solens for caps and Mills for the resistors.
    Happy New Year Drew

    I didn't replace the inductors as there's really no reason to and I removed the poly switch completely from the crossovers as I never play the amp into clipping. The original ones were shutting off/decreasing the output way before it ever got to playing really good. I didn't mess with the internal wiring either other than shortening up some of the wires. But all of the values I used were pretty much spot on to the original.

    Thanks, I had not really planned on replacing the inductors but I do have a couple of broken plastic "stand-offs" that secure the X-over board to the inductors. Don't know yet whether they are available. Might have to rig something up from computer motherboard mounts. The poly-switches may be the culprit with my 2's. They randomly shut down, then work again. I assume you clip the switch and just "bridge" the pins.

    I de-soldered the poly's and replace them with a "jumper", I used some old romex that was laying around.
    JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

    Marty,
    I may have a couple of "stand offs" from an extra pair of old Monitor 10 x-overs. I would be happy to put them in the mail to you and see if they will work. Just let me know.
