Shoot"Em Up =Action

:eek:For those of you that like action movies and mindless violence . This movie has tons of action and just about every new firearm known to man,
the video transfer was crisp and clean.
Every action movie has a moment so over the top you have to laugh; Shoot 'Em Up consists of nothing but these moments. A carrot-eating, lone wolf kind of guy named Smith (Clive Owen, Children of Men, Inside Man) steps in to protect a pregnant woman from a gunman--and finds himself, with the aid of a lactating prostitute (Monica Belluci, The Matrix Revisited), defending the newborn child from a sleazy contract killer Mr. Hertz (Paul Giamatti, American Splendor, Sideways) and his army of thugs. That's pretty much the plot, but story is beside the point. Writer/director Michael Davis (Monster Man) has a keen sense of what matters in an action movie. The rapid-fire editing is scrupulously coherent; you always grasp what happened in every shoot-out, even if it flagrantly violates the laws of physics or basic plausibility. Explaining how Smith survives a four-story fall--even if that explanation is beyond ridiculous--demonstrates both a sense of wit and a winking respect for the audience's imagination. As a result, Shoot 'Em Up is ten times more entertaining than the likes of Transformers or Rush Hour 3, movies so self-satisfied with special effects or movie stars that they forgot to be fun.

Any Monica Belluci movie is worth at least a rental
-
My condolences to Belluci fans. This is probably her worst US film. Poor girl just can't seem to break into Hollywood with a significant role beyond eye candy. Go rent Malena.
Sorry but this flick bored me and I love shoot'em ups. -
LOVED THIS MOVIE! Just mindless fun and entertaining as hell.

I spent more time looking over at my wife contemplaiting whether I would relieve her from the toture of a sencless story line and shut the torture off. Did force ourselves to finish the movie but it will now be filled way in the back and forgotten about. I would rate it 1 out of 5. Poorly written, poorly directed. Shoot-em up was a good tile for this movie. Just Plain Bad!!!Right or Wrong Just Offering My Oppinion!!!

The movie is a comedy more than anything. I have only watched 10 minutes of it so far and it's hilarious.

I wish I would have read this thread before renting the movie. I think this one breaks our record of shortest time in the dvd player....really bad!Yep, my name really is Bob.

I gave this movie a shot the other day, and I agree with this. Seemed like a parody of an action movie to me, and as such it was pretty funny (the DVD started skipping on me so I only got about 15 mins in).If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
of course , "to each his own". I did see the parody attempt but thought it was weak....now Shaun of the Dead was a much better attempt!Yep, my name really is Bob.

It provided mindless, unrealistic entertainment with lots of action and sh$t going boom. It was about 90 min where I was separated from the realism of the world around me. I didn't need to like it, or not like it, I just needed to be entertained, and that I was!DKG999

Yep, the whole movie was one giant over the top action spoof. It's really strange seeing it for what it is and then those who saw it as a serious action movie, which I guess I can understand given how ridiculous "serious" action movies have become. -
Sounds good to me. Hey, I just realized that with my new TV, I can hook up a PC (I have a laptop with wireless) and then with Netflix unlimited streaming movies, I can watch all the movies I want!!! Must see if I have an extra cable to hook laptop to TV!!!

Cool, oh, there goes someone walking down my street.
Time to get back on the Ritalin
Honestly, I got bored with Shoot em up and I love Clive....in a manly sort of way. I have to admit that the excess of violence, parody or not, has started getting to me. I turned eastern promises off after 40 minutes. -
3 words: Pure F*cking Popcorn! LOL, this movie has one of the worst plot lines and scripts that I can remember. But, it's so over the top it's funny.
I had to finish the movie to appreciate it's COMPLETE awfulness. Even with the anti-gun theme, it was still funny.
Truly a horrible flick. I'm still laughing.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -

Did it suck? Do you not believe yourself when you said it sucked? Are you that easily swayed by the opinions of others?"Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais
"For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible." - Stuart Chase

I really liked this one. Glad I rented it.

I know Shack! I was reminded that I saw this movie on a plane, on a 5 inch screen in a middle seat. I didn't mention that in my shorter lame earlier review of "it sucked" which probably was more reflective of my mood than the movie itself. I did clarify this in a post a few lines down but did a pretty bad job explaining.
Sorry to all! I read these reviews and decided to pick it up and give it a real shot on BR in my theater so can give an informed opinion after viewing. Anyway, I have a habit of giving myself a BR movie every time I make $500 or more on a single trade which is pretty much every day so I might as well get it.:rolleyes:My Main Gear

Yes, it was a crappy movie, but VERY entertaining. It's just what it says it is, "shoot-em up". Just non-stop, mindless, pointless killing and action.
