Polk Model 10 Rehab questions

I have had these speakers now for about 2 years and I do like them. I was wondering whether the new tweeters are better sonically then the first generation Peerless that mine possess. Also, if I do decide to swap them out, does the crossover need any tweaking? Lastly, I have the uncoated passive radiator and wondered if the coated ones would work as well. Visually, they are quite a bit nicer.

I'm not sure if I would replace the peerless, rather upgade the x-over with new caps and resistors, maybe replace the binding posts, while you're in the neighborhood, Just my .02 :)

+1. I found the Peerless to be a slightly better tweeter than the new RDO's. But a xover referb, is the best way to bring those 10's back to life.

Post a few pics of them...

Okay then. Rehab as in just replace value for value? I can do that no problem. Maybe swap out the cup holder and add a new fuse holder along with new binding posts as well. :D

Are the passive radiators the same compliance? (correct term??).

There is alot of info on upgrading xover for your 10's here. Do a search..Read alittle , then if you still have question, ask.

www.partsexpress.com hass all you will need. Finding exact values will be hard, but partsexpress has Solen caps and Mills resistors that are close enough. And well built binding post.

I'm not understanding your question on the Pr's? Same compliance to what?

If you are "going inside",and plan to keep them,I would suggest sonicaps will mills resistors,If you call Jeff at Sonicraft,he can hook you up, If the terminal caps are ok,I'd leave them alone,,speaker binding posts can be had from vampire at a reasonable cost.Good luck.

Or use PartsConnexion for the Solens and Mills which is who I've used for doing 3 sets of SDA's. They stock more of the Solen and Mills parts whereas PE had about a 1/3rd of what I actually needed. They ship from Canada and tend to have most everything in stock...at least every time I've ordered. Plus, their freight is very reasonable.

I do not like the look of the first generation PR's. I was going to keep an eye out on that auction site for replacements if they are the same. I figure that since the newer generation of PR are coated, they would have different TS parameters, etc.

I will do some reading here, as I seem to remember a thread on recapping the 10's.
