Christmas present. Love this SACD, especially track two's duet with Diana Krall. I've listened to this album before elsewhere but never in surround mode. Today, I cranked the disk in surround mode and on the first track, "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" with Norah Jones, the organs kicked in part way into the song. They kicked in on the rear speakers and the entire effect sounded so gimmicky. Argh.

There is a reason why this album won a Grammy, it's fabulous! Great music and sonics. I have it in SACD also. Highly recommended!

I agree that it's fabulous but the effect of organs only coming out of my rear speakers is rather cheesy in my opinion. I would have been happier with 3 channel or if they blended the rear surrounds. But to deliberately play the organs only on the rear speakers just doesn't sound right.

Which is why I am still 2 channel stereo. I know, Iknow....I will be evolving into multi-channel surround sound soon.

I think music originally recorded in 3 channels sound good played back in 3 channels. I don't think you're missing out on much so no rush but then I don't own Roxy Music Avalon or DSOTM.
