I Have A Thunder 4 channel marine amp in my boat with 4 polk Db 651's with each speaker on its own channel, however I have just added 2 more Db651's to my wake tower. My confusion is how to hook them up without frying speakers or the amp. The amp is rated at 4 ohms 50 watts per channel and can operate at 2 ohms at 75 watts per channed. I want to have the tower speakers hooked up to the two rear channels and all the rest ( inside boat) speakers connected to the two front channels. I thought after reading posts here and other places that I should series wire the inside boat speakers which would reduce the load to 2 ohms, But I then read that all four channels should operate at the same ohm load. When I say series I mean the negative from one speaker goes to postive of next speaker. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as how to do this properly Bob

by wiring in series, u will get 8ohms
ur amp is 2ohm stable stereo, so use that

plug in the tower speakers on rear channels, 4ohms per channel
plug 2 speakers parallel in each front channel, 2ohms per channel

You can run the amp channels however you would like as long as you do not go below the minimum impedence. 2ohms on the front and 4 ohms on the rear is fine.

I have another question. If i am running the 4 speakers on the front channels at 2 ohms does that mean the amp can put out the rated 75 watts and or am I getting more power or drawing more power. I am new to the amp thing and trying to understand for future installations.

doesnt matter how many speakers u running

if final load on the amp channel is 2 ohms, it will be pumping out 75watts

since u wired ur speakers in parallel, each speaker will get half of the current or power ie 37.5watts
