Does anyone know of any speaker stands that can be used for the FXi3's? I did a search and one forum member custom built his own stands. I would really like to have these speakers on stands and not mounted on the wall. If I can't find stands would it be overkill to use RTi8's or RTi10's for surrounds?

I use Rti6's for surrounds and love it.Great for 5 channel music, too. If you want to use 8's or 10's then go for it, just remember you need amplification to drive those floor standers as rears.

In general the problem with stands for surrounds is finding ones that will be stable at the more or less proper height which is for the tweeters to be about 2-3' above ear level ...

It's difficult to find stands this height let alonge ones that are stable ...

As far as the 8's or 10's being overkill ... They probably are ... but imho ... so what ?

daboyz, having the RTi8's as fronts doesn't drown out the RTi6's for surround? I'm afraid that maybe I won't get the proper surround sound using the floorstanding speakers.

They won't get drowned out but you probably won't get what you refer to as "the proper surround sound" with any point source speaker i.e. 4's, 6's, 8's, or 10's ... Surround is more about dispersion than anything else which is what the FXi's were designed for ...

Normal speaker stands won't get you to the required height. You might consider monitor stands. They go a little bit higher and are sturdier.

Some can be found at The Musicians Friend. Not sure if that will solve your problem, but something else to consider.

hmmm...Maybe I should just stick with the FXi3's and look around for some speaker stands that have good height as well as a wide enough base for the FXi3's.

While looking for new audio furniture, I cam across these.

    http://www.racksandstands.com/VTI-BLE101-VI1051.html

Goes to 59", and not as bulky as a monitor stand. That would give you the option of getting the speaker as high as arounf 5.5'. That ought to be close to 2 feet above ear level.

Course I guess a stand at that height would depend if you had small kids or large pets.

    Just more food for thought,

From the Manufactures web site .....

    http://www.vtimanufacturing.com/BLE101.htm

    BLE101
    1. Q: Does this speaker stand come with spikes?
A: Yes, it comes with adjustable floor spikes.
    2. Q: How does speaker sit on the top plate?
A: This stand comes with two sided sticky pads for the speaker.
    3. Q: Does this stand have wire management?
A: Yes, there is a pre-drilled hole on top of pole under the top plate and a hold on
the bottom, the pole is hollow and wire can go through from the bottom and
come out from the hole under the top plate.
    4. Q: What is the diameter of the pole?
A: The bottom section is 13/8" and the top section is about 11/8".
    5. Q: How can the height be adjusted?
A: The bottom pole is a bit bigger than the top pole. The top pole can slide to the
desired height. There is a knob in the middle/junction. When the desired height
is found, the knob can be tightened to fix the height.
    6. Q: What is the material of the stand?
A: The base is cast iron. The pole and the top plate are steel.
    7. Q: How much weight does this stand support?
A: It can hold up to 40 pounds.

No affilaition with these guys or anything. Just look like good speaker stands.
