Need Suggestions for New Speakers....

Sorry to post yet another "need suggestions" thread but am looking to decide on some new speakers in the next day or so and have been doing tons of research which has left me thorougly confused so I'm looking for system suggestions.
I'm upgrading from an old HTIB system so need new 5.1 speakers to go with the Denon 2808 that I just purchased. Was originally thinking of doing Monitor 40 (front), CS2 (center), Monitor 30 (surrounds) and a polk or velodyne sub. Now, however, I'm looking at getting a system with the RTi4 and/or RTi6. Any suggestions out there? Thanks in advance for your time!!

It might help if you let us know what your budget is, and whether this is strictly HT or for music as well.Speakers: Polk LSi15

Amp: Pass Labs X-150
CD/DVD Player: Classe CDP-10
Interconnects: MIT Shortgun S3 Pro XLR

Cartridge:Denon DL-160
Phono Pre:PS Audio GCPH -
Oh, sorry! I was on the phone at work and wasn't paying attention to making sure I covered everything! I'll be using the system mainly for HT, some music. I'm looking at spending $600-800 (can get polk at near cost so MSRP cost is higher of course).

RTi6's matched with a nice sub will perform quite nicely with your 2808.

I had the Monitor 60's for my fronts and I still have the Monitor 30's for my backs. While I think they are a tremendous speaker for the money, I'd certainly recommend going higher.
I personally went from the Monitor line to the LSi 15's and absolutely love the sound. I don't have a lot of experience with the RTi speakers, so I can't comment. But others seem to find them excellent for HT and decent for music.
If it were me and I had the space i'd go for floorstanders for the front instead of bookshelves. The RTi line seems to be on sale these days so if you could swing the RTi10's up front I don't think you'd be disappointed.
Keep in mind that if you get into the RTi line, someday you're going to want to add a separate amp to drive them to their full potential. Trust me, it'll happen
Sounds like you're on your way to putting together an excellent sounding HT system, enjoy!Speakers: Polk LSi15

Thanks for the advice! And it doesn't take too much arm-twisting with me so I'll definitely look at the Rti10s (was already looking at amps earlier today)

So I'm down to the following:
Front: RTi6 or RTi10 (just not sure if the towers are going to be too overpowering size-wise). If I go with the 10s, an amp is definitely in my near future.....
Center: CSi5
Surrounds: FXi5
Now I'm confused about subs. I've read that perhaps Polk isn't the best for the money (any many of you on this forumn have acknowledged that you own other subs). Any thoughts? I was looking at Velodyne or perhaps even the Polk DSW Pro Series but am completely unsure at this point.

The DSW PRO series will awe you.
Polk got a not so favorable reputation in the sub department because for Polk Sound Quality always came first, even if it mean sacrificing a little extension. If they had made 'boomers' like a lot of other manufacturers, the peanut gallery would have been pacified. They are introducing ELEVEN new subwoofers, six of which are already out and on the shelves. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the new DSW PRO series, to even the most hardcore music and movie buffs. Polk has finally got the extension AND articulation wrapped up in these nifty new subwoofer models.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Look at the RTi8 as well. They can currently be had for $300/pair from Frys. (they also have the RTi10's for $500 per pair.)
Anyway - center and surrounds look great - would not change a thing there.....
For subs, many (myself included) recommend Outlaw, HSU, SVS, Epik and eD.
The new DSW subs from polk are supposed to be nice, but I have not heard them yet and subs have not been Polks strong suit in the past. If you are going to purchase at a local retail store - I would at least try the DSW subs. If you are willing to purchase from an internet company - check out the companies listed above and see what they have to offer in your budget range. (if anything)
Welcome to Club Polk - grab a chair and get out your wallet - its going to be a hell of a ride...
MichaelMains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
I'll definitely check out some of these other sub recommendations. The reasons I was trying to stick to Polk or Velodyne was due to knowing the deal I can get on both due to a nice hook-up (sometimes I'd rather sacrifice a bit in order to save a lot a money!). I'm glad to hear that the DSW PROs may be a step in the positive direction for Polk's subs.
As for the fronts, my thought was that if I decide on a tower that it seemed like the 10s were a bit more bang for the buck. I'm guessing that my price difference will be about $100-125 for the 10s over the 8s. Do you think that the 10s will be too much for my room/receiver (2808)? Will it be a waste to have the 10s without an amp? I'm getting so confused!! Sorry for so many questions....I'm so close but feel so far away -
So just an update for everyone. I bit the bullet and am getting the Rti10s, CSi5, FXi5s and am going to be brave and try out the DSW Pro 500. I'll admit that there were other subs that I am more interested in but at this point I couldn't beat the deal I was able to get on the 500. I also know that an amp is going to be in my very near future due to the 10s.........Can't wait to get this all hooked up!

A system you'll thoroughly enjoy.

Oh, and from a big fan and former resident of Michigan, congrats on the win against Florida! Thanks! It was definitely a great game and involved me doing a lot of nervous pacing and yelling at the tv. I get WAYYY too into the games!
