adcoms 2 channel vs HT and old vs new

Initially people suggested getting used adcoms 5500 to power fronts for HT. I have been looking and the used prices for a 5500 are about the same for a used 5 channel system. Is there any reason not to get the gfa 7700 5 channel 5x175wpc. vs getting two, 2 channel adcoms for twice the price???

I feel like I'm missing something?

Also is there really a difference in the new line of HT versus the last couple years. Their marketing blurb says new hi def requires faster broader range response...blah blah.. I probably cant tell the difference but figured I would ask if any of you have actually experienced a difference.

if you need a 5 channel amp. get that one. whatever amp you need in your price range..

if you need a 7 ch amp. get that one. if you only need 5 channels get that one. i need a 5 channel amp.. but i went with mono block amps.. so in my 5.1 system. I have one amp for each speaker.. so I have 5 separate amps. one for each speaker.. but it's a lot of extra power cords scattered all over the place. a 5 ch amp would work better for me. but that's not the route I went.
