I just picked up a nice B&K pre/pro for Xmas and would like to get a decent used multi-channel amp. Something with, um,....oomph. It will run the HT in a fairly large room. 4 ohm stable would be nice if I decide to put the LSi9s in the system. Thanks a lot, Mike

    Whats the budget?

Definitely under a thousand. I've been looking at stuff in the $600 range (Parasound 1206 and Outlaw 750 and an older Adcom 7605) I also just bought a second HTR, so this is an indulgence....just don't tell the wife...thanks

feel free to email to mms3rd@everestkc.net

B&K makes amps too. I would agree with the older Adcom's, and Parrasound also.
    Happy hunting

Right...but they push me to the edge of the budget. If it weren't for these kids....man, what I would buy!

B&K makes great amps. I think that one is a very good deal on Agon. I really love their stuff and have owned 3-4 of their amps (stereo and multichannel). Give it a try!

Thanks. I think this might be a relisting as I think I had emailed this guy....maybe it had been on Videogon. Anyway, I sent off an email to him...I would rather put some money in the pocket of a forum member than a stranger..unless she is just really cute stranger of course.

I guess when you are too old to hunt the singles bars, you hunt the audio classifieds.....well, it beats stamp collecting anyway...no offense to stamp collectors. Thanks for the PM, ben.

Anyone bought from this fella on A-gon? Clydedrexl136 Please PM if you have any info. Seems like a nice guy...and has a whole lotta of stuff for sale...I assume he buys up stuff and resells.....

Someone I just bought from had to get his bearings straight after coming back from overseas before he could accept my offer. Then he has a different paypal name than A-gon name, and then he has someone else carry the unit to the USPS and sign for it....does this sound fishy? Or am I just a cynic? Thanks and thanks again.

    Hello Neil,

I have an Acurus 125x5 I bought from Early B last december that I'm not sure I want to keep anymore. I bought the amp planning on upgrading to Lsis or Rtis in a few months but things did not work out financially whatsoever. Even though the acurus makes the monitors 50s sound great, I feel the h/k reciever does just fine for my cheap speakers.

When I recieved the amp from early B, I noticed a slight static sound coming from the right channel. I thought there might of been something wrong so I brought the amp over to Carl's house ( schwarcw). He hooked them up to monitor 7s using better quality speaker wires and the static sound was gone and the speakers sounded amazing. I made a thread last year about the issue so I just wanted to make sure you at least knew about it.

Anyways, I haven't put a set price on it yet but I payed 550 shipped so I was thinking a few bucks lower than that should be fair. let me know if you are interested.

    Thanks
    Tom

    No answer?

Did you miss my post or just ignored it...

Whats wrong, not enough power? the issue I thought I had with the amp? My name is tommyboy?

Sorry, I'd rather have an answer no matter how negative it is rather than being ignored.

Tommy, let me know how this works out... I may be in the market for a 5 channel amp in the next few months... something with some power for my RTi's, but nothing over $500 I'd think.

    Cheers!

I bought several pieces from Clyde "The Glide" Drexler. Remember this guy? He used to play in the NBA for Houston. I had stuff sent to me from Houston & Dallas. This clydedrexl136 is from Dallas. Could it be the same guy? If it is you can trust this guy all day long.

He's the guy. Has great feedback on A-gon....and writes some very nice emails...being the cynic I am, they almost seemed too nice. I wonder how he picks up so many nice pieces. He says he is 31, which makes him a little young to remember Drexler! Thanks for the input.

I'm 27 and I know of Clyde the Glide. I would guess anyone remotely aware of the NBA in the late 80's early 90's would be very familiar with him. Great player for Portland and even Houston, just the next level under Magic, Bird, Jordan, Isiah, etc.

I've emailed that guy about some Agon gear since I'm local. He's very nice but very prudent / cautious. He writes "prefer you come see it in person if possible" on a bunch of his ads, so I emailed saying I might like an amp and wanted to swing by to see some of the in person. He nicely said if I was genuinely interested in a specific amp I could set up a time to view it, but he wasn't about to let me "swing by" to check out his gear. Guess he thought I was trying to case his joint or something.

Good luck with your amp quest. I'd still be on the lookout for B&K stuff to match your pre-pro, and due to their value and reliability.

Thanks, Andy. I am still looking. Right now I am trying to get the NAD HTR working that I just got off A-gon. Cannot get any sound out....geeez...I don't need these headaches.

Neil - I thought you got a B&K prepro? Wasn't that what started the amp search? I think I'm lost.

Stereo - really, the REAL Clyde himself? I thought it was just some dude that had ClydeDrexler as his username. If it's clyde himself, then I'm impressed and am gonna go buy some stuff off him just because he's famous.

The fella on A-gon is Steven Fox with ClydeDrexl136 as screen name.

I got the B&K pre/pro and also got the NAD T762. I couldn't decide which way to go at the time, so I got both. The B&K seemed like a great price given its original list price.

See above.......I bought from Clyde himself. Not this guy on AGon. The Jolida I'm using now in my 2 channel is from Clyde.
