    Two questions
    1. can I hook it up directly to my laptop?
    2. (possible stupid question) can I hook it up to my AVR?
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

Can a few folks that have played around with these post some impressions? Just the virtue of having tubes and a cool design is worth something, but good quality sounds and build would makes these a no-brainer.

Thanks for the heads up. I finally decided that I would go for one of these last week but then it was sold out from from the local seller. I figure I'll give myself a late Christmas gift.

Jcaut: I was the one who purchased it. I wouldn't be surpise if the seller has more to sell.

It sounds pretty nice to my ears, as suspect as they may be at this juncture.

I just bought one of these HCT HMS-100 iPod Dock and Tube amp but it had no remote. I've checked remotecentral.com but no luck. If anyone has a remote for it...maybe I can send you a learning remote and you can plug in some basic functions for me. Or, if you have Pronto codes, I can convert them to Logitech Harmony. Anyone that is willing to do this for me will get a brand new, in the box, Windows Mobile Smartphone for the U.S. Cell Carrier of your choice!! :)

Unauthorized copy is just a way of saying we're pissed that someone is exposing us for the ungodly profit built into our nice little packages thus the discounting from $800 to $400 on the real deal. I'd be truly shocked if there is any noticeable difference other than the stenciling of the brand.

To set the record straight about these as I've researched them. They are ALL Dared MP-5 tube amps with their own logo's. The Fatman iPod Valve amp is also. Another name to look for is Sonic Integrity. These are all identical to the Chinese version of the Dared MP5.

Dared also has a US version of the MP5 amp that takes more readily available tube types rather than the the lesser found 6N1P, which btw is an excellent Russian tube.

These amps when hooked up to fairly efficient speakers sound fantastic. When I bought one (HCT) I thought it would end up being a toy but it's not; they use Nichicon and Rubycon caps as well as WIMA resistors and are very well built on gold plated pc boards.

Sorry for bumping this old post
just wanted to add some valuable info and state the Fatman "statement" was simply to protect it's territory since they are much higher priced than the Chinese and Korean version of the EXACT same thing.
