RM101 Internal crossover point for mid-woofer?

New member here.

Picked up a RM10 set at Sound Advice on closeout for $269. I have a JBL PSW110 subwoofer and would like to hook the fronts up the polk way. The high level speaker output on my sub is crossed over at 180. What I want to do is run the fronts off the reciever and not through the sub because I think 180 hz is to high.
I would like to know if the RM101 is crossed over on the low end and what the crossover point is. The only thing I can tell from the manual is 3.2 khz which I assume is the point between the mid and tweeter.

Welcome to the forum, and good choice on the Polks.
I couldn't find THAT sub @ the JBL website, so I'm not sure what you're looking at. I have to ask acouple of questions to help u:rolleyes:

    1. On the back of the sub. there should be: 8 connections for speaker wire, a Hz. and a Volume knob. Is there?

    2. If 'yes', then you run the speaker wire from the rcvr. to the sub. and back out to the front L/R 101's. Then, on the rcvr. set the front speakers to 'large' and sub to 'off'/ 'no'. Then tweak the Hz./Vol. on the back of sub.

    3. If 'no' on the sub features, then you'll have to list what's back there.
Hopefully we can get ya set in time for xmas.
    Good luck:D

Here is a pdf link to the manual for the JBL PSW110 Subwoofer http://manuals.harman.com/JBL/HOM/Owner%27s%20Manual/PSWD110%20om.pdf

On page 6 under crossover adjustments it states that the speaker level output is crossed over at 180 hz. The sub has an adjustable high pass crossover but it only works on the line level outputs. I was going to run the front speaker wire in and out of the same terminals on the sub to avoid the 180 hz crossover. I just wanted to know what the internal crossover point is on the RM101 fronts. That would give me a starting point for adjusting the subwoofer crossover.

The manual that came with the RM10 set could use some work. Under specifications it reads "crossover: 3.2 khz". It doesn't tell what the low end crossover point is.

Sorry, man. I can't help you. I didn't mean to waste your time. I don't understand why JBL fixed the crossover @ 180hz depending on the wiring method??
    Again, I'm sorry.
    Good luck

No problem. The fixed high pass crossover really threw me off. I thought the speaker level inputs and outputs on a sub were always a straight pass through.

Since I'm new to Polk speakers how about more of a general question. Do the internal passive crossovers on their satellite speakers have a low end cutoff on the mid-woofer, or are they just crossed over between the woofer and tweeter? I just don't want to run them full range off the receiver and risk overpowering them.

Sorry I can't answer THAT question. You may have to redirect it to 'troubleshooting' section of this forum-it's Polk's tech support.
In the meantime, please list what you've for equipt. i.e. rcvr, amps, etc.
Your HT rcvr should have a manual xover-where the LFE is sent to the sub below a certain Hz. Example: xover set @ 80hz, everything below that amount goes to the sub, above it goes to speakers
Let me know if this helps.
