K i have the 2 sets of components ( front and rear ) and i dont have the rear tweaters installed yet, so ive just had the rear off competly, but the other day i noticed i really wasnt that happy with my mids, so i was thinking, my TE1004 has a low pass for the rear chan, how would it sound if i just ran the mids off the amp and used the crossover to set it to say...80hz-200hz? what would u recomend and how do u think that would work out for me?

Why not turn the rears off completely and live with just the fronts only for a few days and see what you think. You might like it better.

Having the rear mids running 200 down wouldnt really accomplish anything. The main reason for dedicated midbass speakers is to get more of the bass up front as opposed to the rear but if you have the rear speakers running as midbasses it wouldnt really do much except pull the bass to the rear more.

So you are not happy with the mids period? Having the rear speakers on will not alleviate whatever you feel is lacking from your mids. Upgrading to something else will.

I use rear fill and I mainly do this for my rear passengers. One thing I have noticed is that it also seems to help pull the image a little towards the center, and away from the A-pillar. To me it sounds better than when I am only using front speakers only (can't time align for just one person, when there are others in the car), as the sound gets pulled more towards the A-pillar. Now this is not perfect, and you have to play with the TA and volume settings (rear has to be lower than the front, otherwise the image will get pulled back), but I feel it's a good compromise. .

I am currently just using my front speakers only. They are getting 210 watts RMS from my 4ch amp. I bridged it down to two channels. I just picked up a set of Rainbow Profi Phase-Plug components. They are a little bit up the line from my Germaniums. I had planned on going active with these. If I do that, I will not be running rear speakers as I do not want to add another amplifier. My amp can run the active setup if I wanted to, and I can use the built in amp on the HU for the rears, but I am not going to go that route. If I go active I plan on being able to use the TA function on my HU for the tweeters and mids separately. Still trying to decide on this.....

heh u missunderstood me again, i would only add mids in the rear therefore having 2 mids in front, 2 mids in rear, 2 subs, and 2 tweaters.

No, you did not explain yourself correctly. Read you post again, and tell me where it was mentioned that you were going to go with four mids.

Either way, why in the world would you want that many mids? As I stated before, if you are not happy with their performance it may be time to start looking elsewhere, or to look for a dedicated midbass driver.

    mmm

maybe this and stupid advice, and is not really and advice, i just figured out.

what about putting the second mids in the front with a kick panel?

so one set of mids and tweeters in the door, and the second in a kick panel but without the tweeters..

please correct me if i am wrong

maybe you can try putting the extra mids in small sealed enclosures which you can build yourself out of 1/2inch mdf and mount them under the front seats instead of mounting them on custom kick panels?

Uhm, I measured about 4 inches of clearance under the driver's seat, its not deep enough for an 8 inch sub, but a 3.5x10x12 inch box made of 1/2inch mdf will probably fit snugly under the seat and have just enough clearance for your mid-range driver (you may have to remove the speaker's rear cap though). Anyway, it was just an idea I was also considering for myself hehe. I like your idea of having two sets of mids up front, it would be great if you could just buy the custom kick panels for our car like those available for other makes. ;)

If you do not want to use a dedicated midbass driver, why not use the next best thing. Rainbow makes some kickabass drivers that excel in the midbass department.
