Should Sony SS-B3000 be considered at all?

They are 3-way bookshelf speakers usually at about $100. I know Sony is not a popular audiophile brand, but I've heard some say that Sony's big name puts a lot of people off, thus causing their (supposedly) otherwise decent/adequate speakers to be overlooked as crap. I have not listened to them (or listened to much for that matter) and would some opinions. Are they crap, double crap, or adequate for the lower end?... You will not hurt my feelings.

SOPAThank God for different opinions. Imagine the world if we all wanted the same woman -
low end.
Pioneer is the only big brand I know that makes some good speakers... but they cost a lot too. Generally, you get what you pay for.
You might want to look on Audiocircle.com They have people that love modding low end speakers. -

Many site ratings (e.g. CC & Amazon) are higher for the sony than the pioneer... and pioneer doesn't cost that much more.... at least not the comparable model to sony ss-b3000.
What makes pioneer better than sony or vice versa if there is actually anyone thinks sony is better... I'm undecided.

Check your local craigslist. Sometimes you can get some really nice speakers for $100 or less."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

I am talking about the Pioneer speakers made by their TAD division, not the stuff you get at Best Buy.
What I mean is... Polk is about the best budget big box store speaker, and maybe Infinity. You have to spend a ton more money than those Sonys to get true HiFi out of the big Japanese brands.

You willing to spend $9,000? Probably not.
