Hey guys, new to the thread and was just wondering if the Onkyo TX-NR 1000 would be adequate power for lsi 15's? It produces 150 watts per channel @ 8 ohms to all channels. I have 2 sets of lsi 15's running front and rear. Thanks

    Welcome Volcom,
Do a search on Lsi's used with receivers, this topic was covered a lot over the years. Generally, the Lsi's are 4 ohm and this can be taxing on the amps in AVR's. A separate amp made to run at 4 ohms is the best solution. If used at low volume levels in a small room, you may be able to get away with the Onkyo, but I do not think you bought 2 sets of Lsi15's to play at low levels. Check out the used market like audiogon.com for Outlaw amps, they usually fit the bill.

    Welcome to CP Volcom,

The onkyo will be able to drive them, but to get best out of your LSis you need to add an external amp. In Addition to Outlaw mentioned above, you can look at Parasound, Rotel and Adcom also.

All of the above are good. Carver is another amp to look at.

thanks for all the advice guys! This is my current system, sounds pretty decent so far, but will require some tweaking. Might not be the best thing to mix lsi series and rti but unfortunately money doesnt grow on the trees round here.

2 sets lsi 15's front and rears
    rti6 surround back

The RTi's should be just fine for surrounds. Others might have better experience with the CSi5 than me, but my recommendation would be to get the LSiC when money allows in order to match the front soundstage better. I have the LSiC and I think it's a fantastic center.

Hello, about a year ago I added an Emotiva LPA-1 amp to my setup of LSI15, LSI/C and LSI/FX. The improvement in sound an quality of the amp is impressive for the price. Right now they are on-sale. Good luck.
