Have a look at my signature and recommend what my next piece of equipment should be. I'm thinking either an amp to drive all my speakers or a new receiver, but not sure, feel free to recommend actual models, ex. Outlaw 7700 amp.

Thanks,
FX4Newfie

I hope more people read this, and hopefully this thread will move to the top again.

I just found someone selling off some stuff, which depending on the response in this forum. I may purchase.

All of the stuff for sale:

    Rotel RSP-1068 Pre-Amp Processor: $1000
Two Rotel RMB-1066 power amps: $500 each
Richard Grey Power Supply RGPC 600s: $700
    DVDO-VP30/ATB 102 Card Video Processor: $1500
    Mirage OMD Speaker set: $1700
JVC DLA-RS1 DILA Digital Front Projector: $3500

Considering, what I already have and the cost for freight where I live (above the Arctic Circle in Canada). I Paid almost $400 for freight on my two Outlaw M2200 Monoblocks. For those who may not know, the Canadian Dollar and the US dollar are pretty much on par with each other.

I am heavily considering purchasing the two Rotel RMB-1066 amps (using them all in Bridged mode) to run my surrounds and center (bi-amped). Will my center Channel handle this bi-amped? Would I be just as well off buying just one RMB-1066? Can I stack two RMB-1066's? I have a pretty much generic Pioneer Audio Rack that someone gave me. It probably came with one of their home systems 15-20 years ago. Another thing that I should mention since I am reading this again is that I am running this of one 15Amp Circuit.

Hopefully, one day I will able to answer some the questions here instead of posting them all the time.

As always, thanks for your input.

    FX4... what are your goals/objectives?

    a) Are you looking for more bass response - SVS Sub.
    b) Are you looking for cleaner sound - LSI 15
    c) Are you looking for better video - Bluray or HD-DVD
    d) Are you looking for better clarity - add a DAC for improved CD performance.

Your inquirey is a bit open-ended. Try to be more specific.

I would dump the receiver and go for a pre/pro amp combo. A dedicated pre/pro will give you clean surround, and the amp will give you plenty of power.

Sorry, my eventual plan would be to get a pre/pro amp system, but I'm guessing I would have to at least get all my amps first, if I buy the 1066's this would be met. In the future, although this may be 10-15 years down the road. I would like to live somewhere that I could have a dedicated media (home theater) room.

Right now, I'm looking to get really good overall surround sound (hopefully, without breaking the bank too much, and hopefully with stuff that will last a while) a SVS Sub will probably be a bit farther in the future, and a pre/pro will probably be in the future also (probably, when I know if there will be a winner between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, and/or I need another HDMI port).

Is there anything wrong with mixing amps of different types? Outlaw and Rotel? or even bi-amping a speaker with different brand amps?

I apologize if my posts are a little vague.:(

That HD1 Projector is a beast, and throws a sick image. Im not sure what youre trying to achieve, but its a winner for sure. I have one myself, and will vouch for it. Are you going for a sick HT setup or what?

Actually, I'm engaged to a wonderful girl. She's gonna have our baby in Mid-Late July....... I just realized I may not be able to enjoy my system as much in the future..... Have to decide whether or not to get the Rotel Amps while I can still afford it.............Thinking, Thinking, 1 Rotel or 2 Rotels........

    Another thing.

Anything wrong with stacking one or two RMB-1066 power amps on my PSW505 sub? Assuming there is no considerable vibration on the Box.

    Thanks Again.

You should never put anything on top of amplifiers. They need to be able to get air to stay cool.

The exception to that are Outlaw Monoblocks which say they can be stacked 3 high.

Nor would I put amplifiers on anything except an amp stand or a rack.

No question IMO. Dump the PSW505 on the bay. Add dual (2) SVS subs. I use passive subs but have the amp channels. My subs are the best part of my system, here is the rest:
    My Main Gear
    Mitsu HC5000 (Proj.)
    Marantz SR8001 (AVR)
    Sunfire TGA7200 (AMP)
    Marantz DV7001 (SACD)
    Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray
    LSi 15's (Front)
    LSiC (Center)
    LSiFx (Surrounds)
    DUAL SVS 20-39 CS Plus
    (Passive Subs)
    Marantz IS201 I-Pod Dock[/SIZE]
    Panamax M5300EX
    Carada Criterion 106" Brightwhite Screen
    Sunfire TGA 5200 & (4) B&W 605's in the party room
