Peter Jackson to produce the Hobbit

I was beginning to think Jackson and New Line would never reconcile.

I don't know about spliting it up into two movies though, that never even crossed my mind. Been along time since I read the book, might have to read it again before 2010.

I would imagine they are going to split it up to try to make every ounce of cash they can on a proven product. One 3 hour movie could sum the book up but that would only yield them 300 million assuming the movie is a huge success. Instead, they will follow the book more closely and make two 2.5 hour movies and hope to earn 600 million with production costs just slightly higher than one movie.

It always comes down to money (despite what they say) and I think Jackson and New Line were both able to swallow a little pride to make this happen. Can't wait.
