HD has pampered me

I can officially say this now:
I have HD Comcast.
I have HD media and sources now.
We rented a few movies this weekend on DVD and threw in some older ones from my collection. This has officially put me in this state of mind:
After watching about 40 movies in HD strait in the last few months, I simply cannot go back to DVD's. After watching HD TV for the past year+ I cannot go back to standard definition.
I’m to the point now that SD is annoying to watch with any media (Even Upscale on the Toshiba A30). I spend most of my TV watching time on the HD channels and avoid watching SD at all times.
It becomes annoying to go back.
For example, I was watching Golf on NBC yesterday. Tiger Woods was mopping up. It was on NBC HD and looked awesome but they had some cameras that were SD, usually the mobile cameras that were shooting close behind the players. So they kept switching between HD and SD and the difference was monumental.
But Football all Sunday long in HD.. priceless!
Same with movies. I just convinced a few co-workers to go get one of those $300 BR players for their HD TV's and they came back today with the units and absolutely jaw dropping on the quality, and these guys aren’t "techy's"
Keep in mind that size matters. I’m usually watching on a 60", 133" or 27" HD screen. But even on my 27" Sony tube based HD TV it matters enough to me.
All praise HD the king. If you don’t got it yet, you gotta get it…

I feel the same way about HD television broadcasts; I just can't watch sports on SD anymore. But on my 42" HD Plasma I still find regular DVD's to have an extremely good picture.Speakers: Polk LSi15

I'll be completely honest - there are usually only a few scenes or moments in a DVD that I really "notice" the HD. The A2 does a great job of upconverting standard DVDs, they look HD to me. I expected more, I guess. And while I'm sure if I compared them side to side, I'd be able to tell which is which, I just don't see that much of a difference watching HD-DVDs over standard DVDs upconverted. Feel free to flame me as a ****.
And yes my TV is calibrated and I'm using HDMI.
(Totally agree on SD TV though.... it's intolerable). If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

Ya, DVD's arent to bad even on the 60" Sony but on my 133" I catch a ton of pixilization that becomes real noticeable when the movie has a lot of movement. Ill even notice blocking. Starts aggravating my eyes.
My wife rented Knocked up and that newer Adam Sandler movie this weekend from BlockBuster.Testing

HD only for me too now....watching SD on directv is like watching through dirty glasses. I'll tell you what though...SD on directv isnt even up to SD standards...I fired up the 12 foot C/KU-Band sat system the other day and it looked almost HD....if SD on the overly compressed Directv looked this good it would be watchable for me.
I keep the C/KU sat system to watch news and sports feeds ( I have to search for them...never know when the feeds are on ) uncensored and with no commercials...its funny hearing them cuss...argue...even adjust their bras and have makeup applied while commercials are being aired. The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -

Ha, yeah, I'm on a 42", I'm sure the gigantic screen makes a HUGE difference. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

You're not alone. HD is great, but once you've gotten over the "wow" factor, then it's not such a big deal. I've had my A2 for several weeks and bought Transformers in hi def, but haven't watched it yet 'cause the thrill is gone. I'll admit, I'm not a videophile, so the picture quality is not nearly as important to me as the sound. However, I highly recommend HD to anyone, not only for the PQ, but the SQ, as well.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

We used to have an 8ft dish. Same kinda stuff. I remember Sam Donaldson hocking lugi's during Desert Storm. hehe...
SD makes me sick, but FSC is only in SD, so that's what I watch soccer in.

I am kinda in the same boat. I've started watching HD back in 2002 and granted, it was with the "rabbit ears" while Comcast was fighting to get the local channels on HD.
I've now moved to Dish for the last 15 months and my wife continues to nag me on moving back to Comcast because there are so fewer channels with Dish. She wanted the old food networks, CNN, etc. I had to explain to her that we do have those channels! for that past 15 months. I just had the box set to scan through the HD channels only. I refuse to watch anything that is non-HD or upconverted HD. I can't stand watching anything 4:3 on a 720p set.
In addition. HD and BR is great but not all the HD and BR are the same. You got to watch out for the titles. Some BR selling for $9.99 are DVD quality.Main Gear

I have the Hd bug also,I switched from Comcast last month to Direct mostly for more HD and it is hard to watch sd,I have HD in my main room and bedroom and love to watch sports in HD,I only wish FSN-BAY AREA had more Warriors games in HD.As far as movies I wont buy any more sd movies and I try to rent as many HD movies as possible from BB online.I am getting alittle leary of the HD way and hope HD-DVD is the winner.MAIN ROOM;(AVR)Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH,(DVD)Toshiba HD-A20,(AMP-MAINS)Parasound HCA-1000A,(AMP-SOURROUNDS)Rotel RB-971II,(CD)Denon-DCM460,(SAT/DVR)Direct-HR21-700,(VCR)Jvc-SR-TS1U S-VHS,(Turntable)Luxman-Pd270/ATC-ARM,(Power Conditioner)Monster-Hts2600II,(HDTV)Sony-KP51WS510,(SUB)PA-Psw12,(Mains)Cerwin Vega-327 Floorstanding,(Center)PA-Cs400I,(Side Surrounds)PA-Fxi30,(Rear Surrounds)PA-Rti4,(Rack)Bello-At-484,(Wiring)Monster/Bluejean,(Remote)Harmony-676,Pioneer Elite-BDP-95FD (Blu Ray)

Same here. Been watching OTA HD stuff since it came out plus the stuff on satellite now. I do have an HD DVD player and 50" plasma but I'm definitely no videophile. I do enjoy having the nice picture when it's there but it's sure not going to make me quit watching all the great movies, shows, etc in the last how ever many years of TV.
I mean, it's video...without sound, it's only a picture.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Or is it........................Spanky?.................................Sinner.
