Speaker Additions

I have an older set of polk rt-800 floor standing speakers. If I use these as the l-r front channels on a 5.1 surround, will the polk rm 6750 be a good match for the remaining speakers?

for surrounds it mightbe ok, but I think those little Rm's might be a little light for center duty. dont get me wrong, it will work and sound ok, but you "to do" list audiowise will have upgrading the center right at the top.

look for a cs400, or a cs350 on the used market on ebay. usually can be had for less than 250 or so, and will make a HUGE difference.

biggr surrounds will be nice, but nowhere near as important as gettin ghtat center up to snuff for your mains.

either way, your on the path, have fun :D

Is there anything new that is comparable to the cs400 or cs350? I just don't like going the used route on some things.

the CSi5 will be the closest timre match you'll find new. the CSi5 is a great center, just not an exact match to what you have. will still be much better than the little center you got now

hey, sometimes ya get quick service.........sometimes :D

by behind the monitor, do you mean actually behind the TV? the center should be on top or below, and not have anything in the way between the speaker and the listening position/area. possible exception is a projector screen specially designed to be sound transparent, but there pricey.

The CSi5 should be a pretty close match and vastly superior to an RM center. I think you can get away with using the RM's for surrounds for HT, but I would not use them for music that much. I have a similar situation....very strong front stage and somewhat limited surrounds due to spacing and wiring issues. I use the Monitor Audio cubes with back firing tweeters soley for movies, and they work well for that. All of my music is played in stereo, and the set up works out fine. Should for you too....but, definitely upgrade that center. And, like ohskigod says, unless you have some kind of transparent screen, you want that center right above or below the monitor......as close to ear level as you can make it.
