****ALL SOLD****

Up for sale is a pair of McInotsh ML-2C loudspeakers complete with the required MQ-102 equalizer. These systems were Roger Russell's brainchild back in the early 1970s. They are technically flat to 20Hz and I would belive it. See his wonderful site (www.roger-russell.com) for all the technical and historical details.

I’m asking $500 or BO for the system. Located northeast of Boston, MA. Must be picked up in a suitable vehicle.

****ALL SOLD*** The ML-1Cs have <edit>

$100 or BO for the pair. Fix them up and rock out with a powerful 2-channel rig, or add them to a system for McIntosh quad sound.***SOLD***

I would consider trades for a quality ~200 WPC power amplifer and/or a quality preamp. Mac gear would be nice; I don’t want to be out of the family after parting with these speakers. But I'm not picky about brand.

They are listed elsewhere but not for the same price.

I have always lijed the ML-2C. Good luck in your quest to sell these. :D

I showed the pics of these to my wife who looked at me kind of funny! In all seriousness, if you were closer I would consider these, especially at that price and the EQ (did not see a pic of it) as well.

Nice speaks! Your best bet would be to throw those on Audiogon. Good luck with your sale.

It's absolutely true. Roger Russell says the ML series is within 1db to 20hz, the 1.2TL is within 3db to 27. A low organ pedal will make the air in the room shimmer if you crank it enough. Rather frightening, really. The woofers were one of McIntosh's specials, with a voice coil wound over an aluminum form, a 1" total travel, and a 15-pound magnet.

The low end was a letdown for me going to the TLs, but I just don't have the horizontal space for the Macs.

2 12" woofers have almost as much surface area as a single 18" driver or 22 6.5" woofers. ;)

Bump, with price reduction. Going to have to throw some tinsel on these things and put presents around them if they stay through Christmas.

Actually, that part is wrong. The surface area of (22) 6.5" drivers would be almost 730 square inches (area = pi * radius squared) so a bunch of those equals a lot more area!

    6.5") 3.25 X 3.25 X 3.14 = 33.17 sq in X 22 drivers = 729.74 sq inches.
    12") 6 X 6 X 3.14 = 114.04 X 2 = 226.08 sq inches.
    18") 9 X 9 X 3.14 = 254 sq inches.

It would actually only take around 7 drivers to theoretically equal the value of (2) 12" woofers given all the other TS parameters are similar.

Just like me to pick the worst time all season to sell gear. Now that I have the tree up there's no room for people in the living room.

I should also mention I have four replacement Peerless/McIntosh tweeters available. I sourced these from Roger Russell in order to have some spares.

Relax, George. He contacted me from a non-Polk-forum listing I had, and only found my user ID here because I was away and didn't respond to his email. Probably shouldn't have posted since it's a not a Club Polk matter but he's not trying to snipe you guys.

When I got started with this hobby, I somehow stumbled across and read a nice 10 page or so mini biography written by one of McIntosh's chief speaker designers / engineers.

It was actually a really good read and made me have mucho respect for McIntosh speakers. I had only thought of them as a high end electronics / component company before the article.

    Good luck with your sale!

OK, I thought I had these things sold three times. Lots of no-shows and last minute wife interventions.

    Let's try again...

I don't think you can sell here if your post count is less than 50.
