Question about speakers

Anyone buy the LSi series speaker and wonder if they made the right choice. I had the RTi10's and the CSi5 and I went right from them to the LSi15's and the LSic. Wondering though if I missed out not trying the RTi12's with the CSi5 with my equipment first. I like to listen to my home theater and music loud at times. I am always afraid I am going to damage my speakers. The LSi being able to handle 20-250watts at 4 ohm and the RTi's, 50-500watts at 8 ohm thats a BIG difference. How much power is to much for the LSi seris speaker. Did anyone ever damage any with to much power and turning them up. With TWEETER out of buisnuiss in my area, it stinks use to be able to trade speakers up once a year.

I have cranked mine up very loud with my B&K 380w@4ohm amp and i'm pretty sure i'd blow out my ears before the speakers. I don't think you made any kind of mistake, the LSi's are wonderful speakers.

You should be more concerned about the quality of the amp than the blowing out the speakers.

I can walk from my living room (2-channel LSi15 setup) to my basement (RTi70 mains) as a pretty quick comparison, and while I have always loved the RTi70's, the LSi's are far superior to the Rti's. I have also hear some Carver powered RTi12's and, to be honest, I'm not a big fan. The tweeters are airy and harsh. loud music is painful. They do have incredible bass response, but that's not enough.

No need to second guess your move to LSi's. As said previously, just make sure you are feeding them quality power. Don't pay too much attention to the power ratings on the back of the speakers.

Hey Thanks for answering my question. I do LIKE my LSi's allot they do sound awsome. But thier was always that doubt if I missed anything not trying the 12's. As far as power I am using a Parasound C2 controller with the A51 amp 400 watts 4 ohm. I was just worried about messing up my LSi's. It is really disappointing to me that Tweeters went out of buisness. It was GREAT upgrading speakers every year. Fun trying all the different choices at your house. Does anyone know of any other store that allows you to do this. I currently buy my wires and stuff at Hippos. They also carry B & W speakers they sound pretty good also.

Enjoy the LSi's they are a special line. As others have said, QUALITY power is critical. But don't confuse that with mass quantities of power. A quality 75wpc, will sound better than 200wpc of crapola any day.

I take it your on the west coast. Tweeter is still on the east coast(for now).
I hope someone moves down this neck of the woods to replace them if(& when?) they go poof.
The thought of buying anything from the 'tards at Bestbuy, c.c. or h.h. gregg disgusts me!:-(
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

So does that mean you're from the Albany, NY area? I didn't think Hippos was a chain.

Yes I am from the Albany, N.Y. area. You are right Hippos is not a chain store but it is a Really COOL store. And yes, I hate buying stuff at WORST BUY and CC. Wish Tweeter would come back to the area. Well I feel better about my speakers now. They really are GREAT speakers. Do you guys know where I can find a good stand that would hold my equipment. The WIFE is insisting it has to be pretty. I just want something that does not have that weak thin glass. I cracked two glass shelves on two different stands. Thier are not many out thier that can hold the larger amps. Well THANKS for answering my question about the speakers and power.
