Don Fagen's Morph the Cat

I just go this cd about a week ago. I was floored with the amount of bass it had especially in contrast to "The Nightfly".

Does "Morph the Cat" have just enough bass or too much bass?

I have always thought my system was a little lacking in the bass arena but this cd is dominant in the lower ranges so I know my system is capable of providing bass if it is in the source.

This is a great sounding disc, and vote just right.Fagen's stuff always seems to be welll produced and I think on this disc they have been able to capture the dynamics and bass extension as it was in the studio.

It sounds to me like the bass is tuned lower than usual. It sounds like instead of being tuned to the normal C 440, the E string is tuned so it is a low B or even a low D and then the rest of the strings tuned to match. I might have to break out my bass to see what is doin'.

Off to The Recher Theater in Towson tonight to see The Clarks.

Fagan said that MTC was recorded using a 30 inch per second tape machine. He said it was the only way he could capture the bass he wanted.

Pristine recording, Donald Fagan is one of the few artists with the power to stand up to the industry suits and force them to keep dynamic compression at an absolute minimum.

I think Morph the Cat likes fat bottom girls who rock.

I Enjoy the DVD-A and the CD. But would take a vinyl copy for the collection.

Listening to it as we speak [type]. I'm torn on the bass being just a tad on the heavy side....and I do mean just a tad, and just right. May just be my room acoustics or the new amp breaking in, but what a phenomenal recording! Cool tunes to boot?

A winner in my book! :D Three thumbs up....wait, I only have two. DOH!

What are you waiting for? Go get it!!! ;)
