Does anyone here have experience with buying factory renewed amplifiers? Is it better than used on Audiiogon?

Depends on the price. They are both used, but the re-furbished ones will usually come with some form of warranty.

I guess I wasn't specific enough. Factory Re-newed in the context of Adcom sold on OneCall.com. The question I have is what is the history of those amplifiiers. Did the OneCall.com customer not like it after using it for a while and returned within the refund period (i.e. Open Box)? Did the customer do some cosmetic damage to the amplifier and returned for a partial refund? Or did the customer damage the internal electronics and returned it for a partial refund? I am more concerned about the last scenario.

Factory re-newed is just a fancy way of saying re-furbished. They could have been returned for any of the reasons you stated. I doubt they are just Onecall returns, but returns from many dealers.

No way to know the history of the unit if it's used or re-furbished, but like I said, at least the re-furbs will have some warranty.

if it's a factory re-newed.. then it's usually fixed if it had problems.. set back to the original specs and then sold as refurb... for often times a very good price. I would not have any problem buying something that had been refurbed by the factory.
