Is 200w too much power for AR speakers?

I am not impressed with a Denon 2106 so I have decided to upgrade. I was looking at either Onkyo 805,875 or 905. But after going thru this forum I have changed my mind & opted for a 5-channel Amp with 200wpc. I have narrowed the amps down to either Outlaw 7500 or Rotel 1095.
I have a pair of Acoustic research 'The Edge' as my surround speakers, in a 5.1 system. These are rated at 150w. If I use the 200wpc 5-channel amp will this damage the speakers? Or should I just connect the fronts & center to the amp & leave the AR's on the Denon? If this is the case then I am tempted to get an Emotiva MMC-1 & an IPS-1 & be done with it, since it is rated at 150wpc. The other speakers consist of RTi12,CSi5,PSW505.

Good clean (ie non-distorted/clipping) power won't hurt speakers. You could use a good 600 wpc amp with your surround speakers and it won't hurt them. The one exception is if you drive the speakers at sound pressure levels they can't handle. You can do that with a 50 wpc amp, or a 150 wpc amp.DKG999

What DKG said! Either one of those amps will do just fine.
