Frys only has the LSi-15 demos to sell at their clearance price. Would you recommend buying those? Any concerns?

Grills of the 15's seem pretty weak (the cloth attachment to the plastic frame of the grill) If you call polk Customer Service they may take care of you for a new set of grills though.

The spikes in the bottom of the base plate tear loose pretty easy (may be covered with Rubber knobs, but they pull off and there are spikes underneath) Not much of a concern at home as once placed, you don't move them around very often, but I would check them out in a demo unit as they tend to get moved around alot in a store. If there is a problem you might ask for a little more off. Once the spike gets torn loose though, I am not sure how to fix it. Once again, Polk Customer Service may be able to help here....

Check for general nicks, bumps and scratches. Look the speaker over carefully. That gloss can be hard to repair and wood filler aint gonna do it.

I would hook them up and demo them at the store if possible. If the tweeters and woofers sound ok - you should be fine.

They will still have the full warrantee so if it is physically ok and drivers are fine, anything else will be covered if something crops up.

I would also make sure it is one left and one right. Fry's has been selling excess left speakers on the 15s so I am not sure what that is all about.

There's nothing wrong with buying floor models. Just check them out, listen to them extensively and do a physical check to make sure theres no damage or blown drivers...

I would be very wary... it may be ok from other stores, but the big box stores suffer from Tweeter Pokeritis... it is a very serious condition that affects anyone that works or shops there. I know the LSi uses that ring tweeter, not a dome, but I have seen all the LSi at frys have major attempts at poking, pushing the phase plug, and so on.
