Epik and Ed are the new kids on the block. SVS has been on the block the longest, have made a fine product and collected payment. Now comes Epik and Ed with something to prove, though many of us own SVS, theres an Epik or Ed here and there. If you really want input you can PM Ron Temple, or you can read this thread for input.

As Shepardp says...they are the new kids...very large ported enclosures with capable 15" and 18" drivers. I've not heard them, but those that have are very impressed. Better than Hsu, SVS or anyone else for that matter, is purely subjective. But, they look like the real deal if you've got the floor space at all their price points.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

The owner of Epik used to make excellent DIY subwoofer drivers at great prices prior to Epik under the name of Ascendant Audio (I've owned two of Chad's drivers), so if I were in the market for a sub today, Epik would be my first choice (and I've owned the entry level Hsu and SVS subs, too).
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I struggled over whether or not to get the Epik Tower or the SVS PB-13 Ultra. I went with the Ultra for three reasons. Reputation for good solid bass, looks, and flexibility. Also, SVS has excellent customer service. The Conquest is just WAY too big for me (and ugly really). I saw some photos of the Tower on another forum, and it just didn't look good to me-too industrial. Performance is my first priority, but I want it to look good to. I've seen the Craigsub rankings over at AVS forum. The Ultra is still number three, the other two at the top are not my cup of tea based on size and looks. The Ultra was just right...:D

I can assure you that there's no way you'll be disappointed. The Tower, according to some LMS numbers I saw does ace the Ultra for extreme output, but it's not as linear. It' physics...larger cabinet and bigger driver. That's fine. Will you be able to tell the difference between 117 dbs vs 120dbs in room...probably, but I don't ever push it that high. My attraction to the Epiks is the sound quality. Per the DIY crowd and Chad himself, it should be stellar, but no one's demonstrated that any Epik sounds as good or better than the Ultra. You're going to be very happy.

Yeah, I don't plan to ever go that high either. Just cause it's louder....Would Chad say it "isn't" stellar?:)

I'll certainly sit back and watch as the reviews come in for the Epiks though. Who knows, maybe my next sub will be an Epik (in addition to my SVS PB13-Ultra). I was right on the verge of ordering the Epik Tower. The Castle looks good too. I just like the tunability of the Ultra, PQ etc. Much more flexible.

No, I doubt it, but he has a pretty great reputation for delivering outstanding driver designs. I think they are definitely worth a look, but I'm completely thrilled with my Ultra13. I'm sure you will be too.

The SVS is a beast of a sub, so youre good. I'm sure you'll be very happy. If anything you'll probably get addicted and order a second. I want one just for the sake of wanting to have more output, but I've been told Im either sick or losing my mind. I run dual PB12/Plus 2s, and want a 3rd but may go with the Ultra. Not sure if that much bass could physically hurt someone or not, but I wanna try it. Congrats on your purchase. By the way theres some guys over at AVS running 4 Ultras. Insane:eek:
