I am trying to decide about another sub. I see that svs is doing a sale. Should I go with the pb12-plus/2 for the deal or just go for it and get the
pb13 ultra. I hear great reviews on both but just dont want to settle for something if the other one is that much better. Thanks

bigger is better... that's all i gotta say. if you go with the pb12-plus, you'll always think to yourself.. what if I had just gone with the PB13 ultra? go for the 13 ultra and be happy with your purchase.
in all honesty.. nearly any SVS subwoofer you can't miss with.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Ask SVS directly, they will help you find the right fit and won't try to 'oversell' you for their benefit.

I can't comment on the Ultra, but I can't imagine how anyone could be disappointed with the Plus/2. I've said before that it was by far the best addition to my HT.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden

The Ultra13 extends deeper and nearly equals the Plus/2 in total output in it's native tune and in the deeper tunes, does exceed it. It's also more linear and defined. The reason why the Plus/2 is being phased out is that the Ultra does so many things better at close to the original Plus/2 price. All that said, the Plus/2 is an HT monster. You won't be disappointed in the least. You'll just wonder "what if".

I agree with all thats been said. I was thinking of an Ultra and ED from SVS said exactly the same thing Ron mentioned, Ultra will dig deeper, however in 20hz tune both will have the same output. I havent heard the Ultra, but I only read good things on it. The PB12 Plus/2 is a monster in the HT dept and does well for music. At the price point its a very good deal. So I'd go for the Plus/2, would even consider duals if you have the room, or and heres the kicker, go for the Epik Conquest since its in the same price range as the SVS Ultra.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

If you have a couple of decent wattage amp channels you can dedicate to your subs, check out a pair of passive SVS subs.

They are much cheaper since they are powered by your amp. I have a pair of 20-39 CS Plus and pretty much guarantee your happiness (if properly powered). You can get two of these earthquake machines for about a grand. My Main Gear

Ended up going w/ the plus/2. Got it home last night and hooked it up were the polk sub was. Not impressed at first. I could barely get any sound out of it where the polk was putting out sound. It is not the case that the sound is different, I could just barely feel the subs moving. I changed around some settings and it def. got better but not quite like peoples reviews are. I know I need a new reciever but that should not make that much of a difference. My current reciever is a old sony str-de845. I know the avia disc will help w/ the meter but a friend has it right now. To get a good amount of bass I have to have it pretty loud. Louder than I would ever watch a whole movie at. Any advice would be great. I am going to call svs for help but just wanted to check on opinions here first. Thanks

Calling SVS is your best option. Ron and the folks will make your hear what you want. Good luck.Michael

Most likely it's a setup issue between your player, AVR and sub. Email support@svsound.com as suggested with the details. After you're fixed, let us know, but don't expect an SVS sub to sound even close to what you're used to. That sub won't have to work hard to put out massive amounts of bass, but it will be deep, clean and flat. If the source doesn't feature strong deep bass, neither will the sub, unlike many subs that accentuate all bass.

Yeah. This most definitely sounds like a setup issue.

+1.
Also agree that setup is likely the problem. My wife just told a couple of friends at dinner on Saturday, "The only thing he's ever bought that I noticed a difference in was that big sub. You can't help but notice a difference because it physically shakes you."Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
+2 on that.
The sub probably wasn't set up properly. When properly set up, I don't see how any SVS sub can under perform a Polk sub. -

Did SVSfanboy get banned because of his over-enthusiasm about SVS?

They should have kept him around, we could have had alittle fun..
See how many of us would have been put in "timeout".

It's pretty obvious why he was removed. Participation is needed. Brand enthusiasm is great, but that clearly was not his intent. I think SVS is a great company, and the good pub is from REAL customers, and they have it in spades.
I'm sure they wouldn't want a troll like fanboy here anymore than we would, and at the end of the day that's all he was.

I don't mind commenting on stuff I know about...which ain't all that much...I think I'd rather talk about Polk for awhile.
That being said...Russ I hope you checked that clown's IP address for other member names.
