Guys,

Ran Audssey again from all viewing areas and it came back with:

Front- Full Band

Center- FB

Surround -FB

Speaker Level:

Left -4.0db

Center- 8.0db

Right- 4.0 db

SR -7.0 DB

SL -6.0DB

Sub +2.0db

**** I am using rti10; fxi3 and csi5 With the Onkyo 805; Maybe its just my ears but while watching Matrix in HD the Onkyo was cranked down to less than 06db; I came from HK and at that level I would not have been able to hear anything with the HK. Granted, I was using different speakers as well. BUT... the sound just doesn't seem right. Any suggestions?

BTW.... The speaker Impedance says 6 ohms
Speaker Type says Bi-Amp

Thanks alot! I am very new to all this stuff

Dude, something is way off, those speaker levels are horrible. Not knowing how your room is or where your speakers are placed,I will tell you this.....Start off with all speaker settings set to 0.Park your butt in the listening position and use your ears to adjust accourdingly. My guess is the fronts will be left at 0,the sub at 0,the surrounds at +2 and that is a good starting point. You have the rti's don't ya?

Though I am not up to speed on the setup menu in you Onkyo, leave the speakers to normal.

yes I do the rti10's... The speaker impedance is set at 6 ohms; speaker type is set at Bi amp. My rears are the fxi3
I used Audssey twice at every listening level and each time the results are what I posted?

Have you setup your speaker distances properly? Check to make sure you agree w/ what Audssey has given you.

My 805 Audssey setup did about -3dbs for fronts and then i bought a SPL and it had me adjust back to 0db

Set the speakers to normal, and all speaker levels to O and start from there as you sit where you would watching a movie.Bump up the surrounds by maybe +2 to start with.
Go do it now and get back to us.

distance.Just walk it off from your sitting position.

Ok went back in and manually adjusted e/thing; what a HUGE difference! I knew something was wrong when I had my Onkyo cranked down to -05db and the sound was not real impressive. Now I have my left at 0.0db; Center 0.0db; Right 0.0db; and both surrounds at +2.5 db and finally the sub at 0.0db. As for speaker distance; Audsey did its job; matches exactly!

Still trying to figure out the Sub (Polk 404); just does not sound right. U had mentioned s/thing about LFE or cross over; In my Onkyo 805 Speaker Config menu it says:

    LPF of LFE 80HZ THX

    Double Bass Off THX

What does this mean? And finally after making the individual speaker adjustments my speaker Config on the Onkyo now reads:

    Front - FULL BAND

    Center- 40Hz

    Surround -40Hz

I presume the above matches for what I did manually???

Thanks again! I am a real Newbie to this stuff.

i am still new to the crossover stuff but i really doubt you would want your center and surrounds at 40Hz. Most likely the fronts would be set to 70-100Hz. Hopefully someone w/ more experience can help you out there. I think I have my 805 set for 80Hz on L/R and 90Hz on center with the LPF of LPE at 90Hz

I guess I have a question after reading this thread, just to make sure I'm doing things right. I have a Sony STR-DG1000 that's powering my surround L/R. I have 3 Outlaw M200s powering my Front L/C/R. I have 4 RTi10s and a CSi5. I have tried the auto calibration on my receiver and received similar results to manually setting everything. I setup a Radio Shack SPL meter on a tripod in my listening position with C weighting and Slow Response. I aimed it at my left speaker and adjusted the volume so I was at 75dB. Now, my understanding is that I want all 5 speakers to be at 75dB, right? If that's so, these are my adjustments that I had to make to do this. I have triple checked with the meter. My receiver does not have separate level adjustments for Front Left and Front Right, only a balance. The reset of the speakers have separate level adjustments.

    Front Balance R +1dB
    Center -3.5dB
    Surround L -3.0dB
    Surround R -2.0dB
    Sub +2.5dB

Additionally, the sub is about 10dB higher than the rest. I'm guessing that's ok/normal? I didn't want to turn it way down to match if that wasn't right. Since it seems the general consensus is that the front speakers should be around 0, do my settings appear to be off? I have checked the distance settings and they are correct.
