Att front projector people!!!

How important is it to get the projector alined with the screen?? In other words without any adjustsments should the lens hit the screen right in the middle? How did you members get it alined? The pitch,yaw & keystone is suppose to be in very small adjustments correct?? thanks

Depends on the projector. My VPL-HS20 can be offset quite a bit.

Which ever projector you get just make sure it has a pretty decent horizontal and vertical shift. My Epson can be mounted just about anywhere in the room and still be able to hit the center of the screen although I'm pretty much mounted at dead center. Some recommendations are the Sanyo, Epson, and Panasonic just to name a couple.

Depends on the projector. With LCD and DLP projectors, you can have a slight offset and be fine.

However, with CRT projectors like the one I have, the projector must be lined up perfectly with the screen! It should hit the screen right in the middle.

And dont forget LCOS Pjs(Sony Black Pearl, JVC HD1, etc). With the new models coming out, and based on dollar for buck performance, I'd have to suggest the Epson or the new Panny. Of course you can step your game up and go big, but along with that comes price. If I were to do it all over again I would have spent the 2600 bucks on the Panny and banked the extra 2000 I spent on buying the JVC. So the choice is yours, my only suggestion, buy what you like, and afterwards dont read any forums on front PJs, hence you wont get biten by the upgrade bug.

My Panny makes it extremely easy to adjust the screen Vertical or horizontal. Most of them have to adjust vertical very well because people mount on the ceiling or on a stand (lower). The Panny allows me to move it horizontal pretty extreme if I wanted to (without messing with keystones).

It’s of course important to get the projector right in the middle of the screen if you can.

Thanks everyone,Sliverti it looks like you have a Pany 2000 like mine. The pq is A+I just cant get the pic straight! The Pany 900 I had lens was offset on the projector the 2000 lens is in the middle of the projector.How do you mount the projector for it hits the screen dead on?

That’s the 1000, I missed out on the 2000 by about 3 months and would have preferred to have the 2000

I done some measurements & found the the projector is off 6 inches from the center of the screen,the mount was placed for the pany 900, is that my problem? The 2000 has a lot of adjustments for L & R but the main problem is when I watch a 2.35 movie on my 16.9 screen the bottom bar is perfectly level but the top bar is tilted,in other words the pic is wider on the right side of the screen compared to the left. Like I said the pq is A+ with no distortion just that small out of adjustment. thanks

Make sure that the projector itself is pointing absolutely strait. The projector should be on a direct 90 degree angle with the wall. You then use the projector controls to adjust the image on your screen. If the projector is pointing at an angle to the wall you will get what you describe.

If all else fails, adjust the keystones (bad, but better then what you got)

Thanks Its not at all if you look up at the projector from the floor its turned at a angle its not square at all its turned to the right.
