My system of choice/ please comment
Hey everyone, after much consideration, I will be buying the following system... Polk RTIA7 fronts.-$899 pair. Polk PSW505 sub-$299. Polk CSIA6 center-$499. Polk FXIA6 surrounds.-$499 pair. Yamaha 6190 7.1 a/v receiver.-$999 I will buy a couple more surrounds later. I think this system will Rock the house down. All these prices were in Canadian funds (worth more now than U.S. money....sorry), and were the best deal I could get. Am I on track here or missing somthing? I guess the reciever is the biggest question mark. What about those Monster power supplys ect. Are they just hype? P.S. They threw in a PSW10 sub for some reason. What do I do with that?.....

PSW-10, sell it.
I would recommend NAD or Harmon Kardon with the RTiA line more than yamaha, but if you like the sound of the combo - that is what counts. (Laid back vs brighter electronics to match with the RTiA's)
The Polk PSW subwoofers are pretty decent for music, but marginal (in my opinion) for home theater. If that is your budget and you like the sub, fine. If you can spring a few more dollars - I think it would be worth stepping up to Outlaw, SVS, HSU, eD or Epik for your subwoofer. (this recommendation is much stronger than the Yamaha comment above)
MichaelMains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
Thanks, I was also really looking at the HK lineup, plus there all on sale right now at my local Best Buy. I guess I just get the best one I can afford? Someone told me that with HK, even though they claim lower wattage, because of their qulity they are superior to Yamaha, Onkyo ,Pioneer ect.

Yes on the HK. Make sure the model you choose has PreOuts;)
Ditch the Polk Sub.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Don't worry about watts with recievers, the difference between a 70 watt AVR and a 120watt one is more marketing than anything.
Get at least something with pre-outs for all channels and any other feature that is important to you (HDMi, auto-calibration, upconversion, TrueHD processing, etc.)
If you really want more power, you can always add a separate amp later (if you have the pre-outs mentioned above).
