Kenwood KR-5150, Asking for Cleaning & Repair recommendations

I've been gifted a Kenwood KR-5150 along with a matching turntable today from a co-worker who bought it in Japan when he was in the Navy circa 1970-1971. This thing is barely older than I am so I'd like to get it back in working condition. Condition looks great but he said one of the channels cuts in and out and recommended I trace the circuit with a volt meter starting from the speaker output until I find the culprit. The receiver has not been on in six years. The TT was used as recently as 12 months ago (it's gorgeous).

Plan of Action
1. Remove cover and blow out dust, if any. Unit looks very clean.
2. Turn it on and let it sit for 20 minutes.
3. Turn it off. Turn the volume way down. Hook up some Polk R15's. Turn it back on.
4. Slowly adjust the volume up and check the unit out. Turn it off.
5. Deoxit over the weekend but I'll have to go purchase a bottle first. Any suggestions in the DFW area?

Any suggestions on Deoxit? Never used it before.

Anyone with info on this unit? Any owners out there?

I'll come back later this weekend if I can't correct the problem with the channel cutting in and out.

Thx in advance for any help.

Ok. Hooked up speakers, powered on, crrzzzzzzzzzz sound on the right channel. Distortion goes away a little but I'm still getting static and there's very little music produced. Left channel is okay.

Moved the speakers from A to B. Same thing. Moved to C. Same thing. Turned off the speakers and the receiver. Hooked up my headphones. Same thing but now the problem is coming from the left. Turned off the receiver and turned it back on slowly. Strange. The sound is fine from the headphones if I slooowly press the unit on starting at the halfway mark. Tried the same thing with the speakers instead of the headphones. No luck.

Well, off I go to Radioshack to look for Deoxit.

Radioshack gave me a blank look when I asked for Deoxit. Fry's had Deoxit for $14 and the Gold for $15 so I bought the later.

Small, short burst into the pots for every dial, including the power on switch. Cleaned all the connectors on the back of the unit. Gave it 1 hour to dry. Turned on the unit. Right channel is back. No crackling noise during powerup or when I turn the switches.

    It worked! :)

Let's see how long it lasts. If anybody has any suggestions, let me know.
