this summer i replaced the crappy sounding stock speakers in the rear deck of my 97 Mazda 626. easy to do.. i went with the EX357 but now I understand i can use the 368's hmmmmm? well anyway. i have the two door speakers still to replace.
problem is i can't find out how to replace them. I can't pry off the grille without breaking the damn thing. do i instead need to remove the door panel to gain access? if i do.. how difficult is this project. I like to do as much of it myself.
thanks dudes.
oh yeah, i'm hardly ever in here. i hang out mostly in the home audio forums. but i'll check back in a couple days

real simple.... go to your local NAPA or any other auto parts store, or even barnes and noble... and get yourself a Chilton's or Hayne's for your car, not only will it show you how do replace the speakers and stuff like that, but it helps you do pretty much anything to your car, and is good to have on hand.

Yes, you have to take off the door panel. If you've never taken off a door panel, you need to take your time so as not to break the panel. Make sure you have all the screws out before trying to pry the panel free. I suggest picking up a panel remover tool.HERE

i've a rule in life -- if i can do it myself -- even if i do a crappy job -- its better htan letting "professional" installers hack it up.
fact is, you'll put more Tender Love N Care into your car than Joe Schmoe will... so like they said, pull out all your screws, gently pry the panel off ((starting at the bottom helps -- a corner -- because most doors "lip" at the top by the window but on the bottom the seam is clear and easy to pull out)) and swap out those speakers. if you do new speaker wire -- be careful so as to get that wire through the rubber grommet or be sure to put a waterproof sleeve on it if you run through the jamb. The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge
