Any players here? I've played Civ since the beginning (when it fit on 2 floppys) and absolutely love it! I end up buying it, playing a bit and then moving onto something else but always end up coming back to it over and over. I reinstalled Civ 4 a few weeks back and been hitting it pretty hard. Absolutely love this game, no wonder why Civ 1 is rated the best PC game of all time.

I just beat the "prince" (-10% Vs AI) level and Im going to give a shot at Monarch (-15% vs AI).

Played the damn thing until 2 am the other night (work day)..

cant stop.. just... one... more... turn....

That's why I stay the hell away from games like that... I know I'll get sucked in.

Funny you mention this game, I just downloaded it from steam to finally see what its all about.

Played through the beginners level and beat ghandi down for his turf. There's A LOT going on here (as in I still can't keep up with everything) so I can see a lot of replay value in this game. Is online fun, or would anyone new just get their arses handed to them at this point?

Which version of Civ 4 did you get? I still play 2 but skipped 3 (online reviews I read made it seem quite buggy). I only play by myself - not really interested in online gameplay.

Is your version really hard on the machine? I use an older machine with less than a gig of ram. I think that is what make SimCity so slow for me. I have considered getting a new machine or throw in more ram. Worried the enhanced graphics in Civ 4 will be hard on my machine.

I have the normal civ 4 with the 2 upgrades (Warlords and the recent one)

It plays fine on my box, its an older unit now but its still an AMD X2 4400 with 3 gigs of ram and a GF7800GTX.

It gets sluggish near the end of the game on "huge" maps when the map is covered.

Loved the Civ series. 4 is an improvement over 3. I like these games at the beginning and middle but I get bored at the end.

Yes, "just one more turn" is a killer.
