Just Saw SDA-1s FS for $40

I was just in a thrift shop and they had a pair of SDA-1's for $40. The speaker components looked okay, no visible rot or damage. One of the panels was worn on one side. One of the speakers looked like it had candle wax on the top like they had a candle and spilled it at one time. Didn't see an interconnect cable but it's possible they might have it stored away. If you know anyone in that area give them a call or those speakers will end up in the living room of some trailer being used with a boombox. There was also a set of vintage marantz speakers with a volume control behind the panel and a pull out handle on the port for $15, I bet they were dropped off by the same person.

    um, you probably should go right back and pick them up. someone from GA will gladly take those off your hands for what you paid and rehab them. :D

    Seriously, just buy them yourself to prevent the fate you mentioned, even if you don't use them yourself.

    Ode, just wanted to thank you for the heads-up. They were still there this morning! SDA-2's with walnut vinyl. $40!!! Need a good cleaning and grill repair,etc.. Missing cable of course. These will go along with my 7sII and 5jr's. Thanks for the opportunity for one heck of a first post. :) You just earned some really good karma.

    Glad you got yourself a deal. I went over there this morning and noticed they were gone, happy to hear they found a good home. The other pair of speakers are still there, Marantz HD-550's for $15/pr they look like they are cosmetically perfect, even still have the pullout port baffles.

    If the HD-550 is anything like the HD-880, it's a quality speaker that also has value to the Marantz collectors.

    I saw the Marantz. Boxes were in really good shape. Very heavy for the size. I'm sure the Marantz collectors out there would like them. I'm not a flipper,so I thought I'd leave them for somebody else to enjoy. No need to be greedy!:D
