I just picked up the CD Raising Sand, which is a collaboration between Robert Plant + Alison Krauss. Very good CD! It definitely falls right in between the two artists in terms of tone, so if you like rock and like bluegrass at all, definitely check it out.

Amazon Link

There is a 8 minute video on it at the Amazon Link with some of the songs from the CD.

Alison has never been a "beauty queen" looker, but there is just something about her that makes me want to salddle up squeeze her, of course that voice is something from heaven.

Her CD a Hundred Miles More, the liner note shots get just a bit left of the sexy side of things, open the cover and you get a shot of her on her knees at the beach in jeans pushing just a bit of camel toe, with her overcover pulled down around her shoulders, pretty risque for Alison. Not Brooke Burke or anything, just something different from her.

I agree. It's easy to listen to and a very good recording.

I've tried to enjoy this album, I really have. Maybe it's just because I've never cared for Robert Plant... but there's just something uninteresting about this entire album to me once I got past the gimmick of the odd pairing. The quality of the recording is good and it sounds great on my system, but this album just isn't grabbing me like Krauss' other work.

I got the vinyl release and was expecting great things. Their voices pair well, but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in much of the music. Still haven't heard it enough to for a final opinion. The recording is very nicely done though. Good to see Rounder Records releasing vinyl again.

She has stepped out of her niche lately by recording duets and collaborations with several artists not associated with bluegrass...James Taylor, Brad Paisley, John Waite, The Chieftians and even Sting. Most are interesting and very well done. (I posted about the John Waite CD a couple of months ago) I've heard a few cuts from this CD but I have not purchased it yet...It's on my Christmas list and will I definitely buy it if necessary.

The first thing that grabbed me so much about this CD when I unwrapped it Christmas morning having not heard of it before, was the curious pairing of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, though I'm sure that's the big shocker for everybody at first.

And I actually knew who Robert Plant was since I had watched a youtube video of Michael Wilson doing the Immigrant Song and he mentioned Plant in his performance...so that was awesome. :):D

This CD doesn't "WOW" me, but it does have some very good tracks on it. I've yet to give it *serious* listening time, but I've run through it probably three or four times. I love both their voices, and I probably prefer the tracks Plant sings more on, in general.

Cool Christmas gift, for sure! :)

Kind of boring and Romper Room to me. Odd pairing. Of course, that's just my opinion.

You can get it on vinyl, Al. I've almost ordered it a couple of times (the CD not the vinyl), but I've not actually done it yet.

Don't get me wrong. It's ok. Just not my personal cup of tea.

I also heard it on a "Blose" system, so my post should be banned, ripped apart and discounted from the get go. For those who are wondering....it was my stepfathers system I heard it on. So sorry....

After more than a half dozen listens spanning between casual to semi-critical...I'm in the Sounds good, interesting pairing, but just not doing it for me camp.

I heard today that they are going to be touring together in 2008. Old Mr. Plant is still making a whole lot of money and gettin' a whole lotta love. He should be ashamed, he's old enough to be her daddy!

Strange duets and a strange couple. Some of the music is interesting, but it just doesn't set me on fire.
