Polk DSW Pro

As many of you know, Polk has just introduced a new line of subwoofers,
the DSW Pro sries (suppossedly based off the digital Velodyne series). Polk
claims that these subs are a big step forward for them and were gushing about them.
The recent Polk sales (e.g., on RTI10's) include an offer
of a free PSW10 or $200 towards a Polk Sub. My Tweeter already discounts the new DSW Pro series by ~$150. Another $200 means I can get, for example, the DSW Pro 500 for less than half of full price, $250 on a $589 sub
which is nice for my budget. I do mostly HT with an all RTi setup. At this price it seems worth the gamble on a new product with no history.
My question: has anyone heard these subs perform and can give any feedback?
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum polka.
I haven't heard any of them, but for LESS than half price, I don't see how can you go wrong.
I say you buy it and give us a review.
You can surely sell it for at least what you paid if you don't like it. I have a feeling at that price that you'll be pleased with it. -
Just FYI, Polk Audio doesn't base production on Velodyne. Room correction and DSP is the future and Polk has followed suit with the new line.
At least Polk has taken steps to get beyond the historical subwoofer stigma, FINALLY.
Bring it Velo, bring it.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
a new polk sub line with promise? SWEET! The inwalls at Ted's were nice. would be good to see them make a box sub with the bang for buck we know Polk can pull off. would love to get ears on it.
half price? dude, what do you have to lose. get it and check it out.Living Room 2 Channel -

The in-walls with the SWA-500 are especially sweet, diggin deep with plenty of power. I suspect the same/similiar technology was used on the digital amp for the dsw as the swa has, I would not hesitate, I instantly recognized how much flatter the response was after hooking the SWA digital amp into the system over the 2 channel amp we used at the Fest.
I have heard many an SVS and they are top notch no doubt, that said, I would put my Polk Sub CSW-200's with the SWA-500 digital amp up against an SVS anyday, these Polk subs are that good.
Polk is moving forward in a serious direction with this line up.

There's no doubt that Polk has the resources to compete with the large/ported or expensive compact/sealed ID and dealer channel OEMs. However, somewhat like Velodyne, their business model limits their offerings. You can't sell the big/ported designs through retail outlets and you can't sell ID if you've already got established channels without pissing off your dealers. I see no reason Polk can't emulate Velo or JL in the compact high end sealed market and/or custom installers however.
I'm glad to see the improvements in the affordable DSW lineup. Perhaps smaller sealed subs w/ 20hz capability in the $1000 - $3000 range are next.

I actually just got back from tweeter to hear LSI 9s and 7s which I plan to purchase down the road. After listening to the sales guy at Tweeter tell me how great Focal speakers are I went into the other room where they have a dual DSW Pro set up. They were pretty nice. They seemed to hold there own when the demo got real deep. I am in the market for a new sub, but I doubt Ill buy these.
