RTIA5's or RTI10's..... HELP!
Hi guys, just bought a PSW505 sub, and now I have a chance to get a pair of RTI10's or the new RTIA5's for the same price. Which do you think better? Have you heard them both? Please give me your opinion what would match this sub the best....Thanks

Welcome Polkaroo. Since you can get the new ones at the price of the old one's I would get the new series. I love the new look of them. And those who have heard them said they sound better.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Thanks, I tried to get the RTI10's but they were sold out in my area. I couldn't wait any more and grabbed the RTIA5's. I am now drooling over these speakers and can't wait to buy an a/v reciever that will do them justice. I think the whole RTIA lineup is just fantastic....

Congrats. What receivers are you looking at?
Whichever one you get make sure it has preamp outputs so that if you choose you can add external amplifcation.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
But is A5 equivalent to RTi8, not 10? I thought A7 is equivalent to 10s. So A5 vs RTi10 is not a fair comparison I guess.

Jordonlee - I agree with you as that's a better view of the comparison between lines. Fair? It's all in what you hear as I think the A5, much like the much older RTi70 was a model line star. Bigger isn't always better.
That being said, I wouldn't own a little Magnepan speaker if my life depended on it....3.6R or better in my book.
Polkaroo - Congrats, enjoy your new loudspeakers.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
I agree A5 is a great speaker. But amazon has A7 for $350 a piece which is even cheaper than A5. However, A7 requires an external amp to get to its potential.

Yes, I e-mailed the folks at Polk and they said to grab the RTI10's over the RTIA5's for the same price, but they were sold out all over my area and I couldn,t be bothered to buy online. That said, no regrets and full steam ahead with my A5's. I also now have the PSW505 sub. I'm guessing this sub may be a little overkill for these speakers, but not a problem right? I'm considering a Denon, Pioneer Elite, Onkyo, Harmon Kardon or Yamaha reciever. Yes, I know all about pre-amp outs after reading these postings for a few days LOL. I've read the Yamahas are too bright, and the Denons are too hard to figure out. Next I will buy the RTIA series center and surrounds. One step at a time....

I don't think that the difference will be all that signifigant....a win win propostion.
I have always liked the Denon's and Onkyo receivers....not so much the Yamaha. YMMV.
Pick the one that fits you the best and rock on.

None of them are extremely easy when it comes to getting into the menus & figuring out what's what. So buy the one that has all the bells & whistles that you want it to have & worry about the rest later.:DMarantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

What Cathy said, they are all a PITA to set up....but it's doable.

I knew it! Just opened todays paper and now I see the RTIA7"s are only 200$ more than the A5's. Why do they keep doing this? Just yesturday the salesman said he didn't know when they would get them in and doubted they would be onsale soon. So, the A5's go back tomorow and I'll grab the A7's. Now, assuming they don't cut the price on the A9's next week, what can you suggest regarding powering these? Will I need the PSW505 at all or did I buy that for nothing? Thanks Guys...
