    Unless you STEAL them...pass.

I actually think the Carver m4.0t, TFM 42/45 were better amps.

The Silver 9T's are excellent amps and still command a decent price. I had a pair recently and liked them a lot. I thought my Krell was a bit more detailed so I did not keep them. They were in storage for a few years so they have perfomed better with a little more TLC.

I didn't mean to intone that I don't LIKE them. I do. I had a pair and loved them. I like the sound of Carver amps and the price/performance ratio.

That said though, I prefer the m4.0t/TFM 45/42....I think those were the best sounding of the Carver amps.

I have a dual mono designed amp already, and I think that just by splitting the amps into two box`s is not going to give me any more than I already have at this time..

Mark (Doro) turned me on to this amp long ago, and I got her with zero miles on her

I think I will just keep her and enjoy the tunes..!!

I thought about Carver awhile back and though I enjoyed the sound, my Parasound HCA-3500 is the one for me

    Thanks for your help ...

I think I read somewhere something to the effect that Curl said the HCA-3500 was essentially a pair of JC-1's in one box.

I could be wrong but I swear I read that somewhere.

I think I also read the same thing...

Back when I first got it, I searched everywhere I could for info on it, and read where John said something like that...

She is a solid amp to be sure..
I found one for sale recently, and almost got it to bi-amp with

I think that I may try that the next time a minty one shows up

Along with Classe, The big Parasounds would be on the short list of amps I'd want to power a pair of big **** B&W 800D's.

I would say that more accurately, the CTC BBQ was two JC-1 monoblocks in one chassis. Even that's not a perfect example as the monoblocks have larger transformers, more capacitance and a couple other smaller changes. He may have in fact said that as noone really knows WTH the BBQ is anyways.

There are major component level changes that the HCA series doesn't share with the Halo line.

If I can get a rag full of Choloroform into Mark's nose.....that CTC BBQ would be on my short list as well.

    I'd even hump his leg.

Damned if I can remember where I heard/read that....again, my memory ain't what it used to be anyway.

I'm sure it's possible but the CTC version is eliminated around 70 parts from the overall circuit, and the board work is custom.

The HCA-3500 is no doubt, one of the major stepping stones to the eventual JC-1 monoblock. They only made the CTC version because at that time Parasound wasn't interested in the redesign, which might have been the HCA-3500 MkII(I'm guessing on actual nomenclature). They at some point asked John to design a monoblock, "no holds barred" and that was made easier by the existing CTC design that was already in place.

I saw the CTC preamp version was mentioned in the last stereophile. They said something about best sounding or something and then something about "but you can't get one any more because he can't build them" RIP.

Man, wouldn't you feel like a little silly if you had a chance to get one at a decent price and didn't? Just imagine, having a piece of history like that. :)

Well, if by decent price you mean less than a freaking Hyundai, absolutely. I simply can't afford it.

Hey Bear.....If you are passing on these and you have lined up a killer price let me know...they are basically the exact same amp as my two pair of 7t's except they have pretty lights on the VU meters...and I love my 7t's :D

To answer the original question, around $1400 would be a good price on a pair of 9t's in good shape. The current craziness surrounding Carver gear has pushed the price up considerably on e-prey. These amps were $1200 ea. new. I really like mine, but if I had a choice I would have a Carver TFM-75. It too is a dual monoblock design. Good luck finding one though. I've been looking quite awhile with no success.

Really nice amps....I just hate this disclaimer on the ad " Due to the nature of Classic electronics, Amps are Guaranteed not to be DOA, BUT are sold "AS IS". All sales Final. "

In other words the power switch will turn on ...and they are older then dirt...so if they are noisy as hell...pop...click....static...hiss....catch fire...they are all yours :D

Do NOT purchase from europeanmotorsports! I have had trouble with him and three Carver forum members have been burned by this cat before. These 9t's have been up on the block three times and though I have not one drop of proof, I believe that the signatures are a fake.

Extensive research has been done on this cat and if you actually take the time to read ALL of his feedback, you'll see part of what I am talking about. If you want some hard information, I will be happy to provide but be prepared to do some reading.

    You have been forewarned! ;)

The 9t is not my favorite Carver amp in his lineup, but if you have a speaker that is extremely hard to drive, this amp should be considered as an option. Especially, as stated before, for the cost to performance ratio.

It depends on what application you would like to use them for. To simply throw something out would be a blanket statement. PM me your phone # and I'll give you a rundown that would take me waaaaaaaaay too long to type.
