Has anyone here used 4 lsi7's with an lsic for home theater? I want to know if I end up doing this in my new house if I'd be satisfied with the sound for HT? The room I'm going to is much smaller than the one I currently have 10x15 or so. So with a sub I'm thinking this may do it

I had 4 LSi7's before I got my 15's. I thought it sounded great and I never really felt let down. Switched to 15's mainly due to the fact I wanted floorstanders instead of speakers on stands.

It sounded great and I am sure you will be happy with it. Ricardo and Opus have both heard my setup with 7's as well so they may be a less biased judge of its sound.

(can't really remember if I had the 7's or 15's when ricardo heard it now that I think about it....)

    Michael

Edit - The electronics I had at the time were more of a hinderance to the next level of sound than the speakers....
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)

any idea of what type of power I'll need. I dont think the 7's are power hogs are they? I have the marantz 7200 right now 110 at 8 ohm and 160 at 4 ohms

The 7's are pretty close to a 6 ohm load and by far the easiest of the LSi series to drive. With that being said, I was running them with my cinepro amp and have not tried them with just my reciever.

Well, I did, but I really don't remember what they sounded like very well in comparison. I did not run them with my AVR very long, about a week or so. I have heard that the 7's are just as power hungry as the rest of the LSi line, (as far as rewards paid for more power) but do not require the power like the rest of the line. - if that makes any sense....

I have Lsi15 in the front and Lsi7 for rear and I've tried just using the Lsi7 in front and my Allison CD6 for the rear and the Lsi7 is sufficient for a room that is 14x17 room. I am also using a SVS sub.

I'm going LSi7 for my HT but only the front L&R. It's time to retire the RTi series.

Don't you need a third to act as a remote????

Depends on what kinda system you are after. If you just want a nice surround system that sounds good then they will be more than good enough, but if you are wanting a great system that will knock your socks off, you will need mains & a center with more muscle than the 7's can dish out, mostly in the mid-bass area.

I disagree - the 7's and a LSiC with a good sub will kill most other Home Theater systems. I got the 15's mainly because I did not want stands with speakers on them. (to many kids and animals)

It really is a great system. I would say, in most rooms, you would be better off with 7's and a great sub rather than 15's and a mid-level sub. (keeping the budgets the same)

I also disagree as the mid-bass on the LSi7 is easily on par with the LSi9, if not moreso. The LSi7 is the best example of the LSi and very well executed as a design. The gem of the lineup for me.

Bigger isn't better in this series. I would take the LSi9 over the LSi15 as well and the LSi25 isn't a groundbreaker. YMMV.

Cathy - I get one daily, just in case.

Well I went from RTi55's as mains to swan 2.1's & I could tell I took a hit in the mid-bass region with movies & I have a SVS-pb12+2 sub, but I have a pretty large room. There's a reason why HSU sells a mid-bass unit, because most subs & satillite speakers dont play in that region too well. I've never heard the lsi7's, but its hard for me to imagine anything with a 5 1/4" driver playing anything with authority.

You went from Polk to another brand of loudspeaker and noticed a difference? That's shocking.

let's break it up, guys. I don't want to see anyone get hurt here.

step away from they keyboard. . .

I purchased some LSi7s and should have them before too long. Can't wait to run them in a nice bedroom 2.1 channel system. I'm sure they will sound good on my HK 3480 with the definitive sub I have. I think 4 7's and an LSic would be a great setup, Jimbo.

You're right, my fault. My rti55's were dual 6 1/2" with a larger cabinet & the swans that I went to were smaller bookshelfs with only a single 6 1/2" driver.

I am in fact pretty dumb when it comes to mathematics but I understood what you said originally. I'm also familiar with your actual selection and simply didn't agree with your comparison.

I'm a MTM array fan but not every version is a home run. The LSi7 stands out to me because I'm a lover of small loudspeakers.

I have the LSi9's as my fronts, LSi7's as my rear surrounds. I agree that with a good sub integration, the 7's would be plenty for the front mains in HT. I had to use the notch filters on my B&K AVR to kill some of the mid-bass bump of the LSi9's to get things to sound right. If you don't have room to play with speaker placement, and don't want to take the time to tune the system, then my choice would be for LSi9's as their bass response would seem to let you set the sub x-over lower and get decent SQ with less worry about placement and tuning. And then again, I could be all wrong :(
