New tubes...impressions after "burn-in"

Well, as you know, I grabed up some new tubes for the Cary F1 as a Birthday present to myself..

They sounded like crap when I first installed them, and was totally bummed that I spent so much on crap...again !

It was suggested that I give them at least 50 hrs to settle in and shine....so I left the system on, playing at a very low volume for the last few days.

I got up this morning to get ready for work andwhile in my office getting dressed, I noticed a very wide , detailed soundstage....No muddy bass...very sweet mids...

It was 3:30 am so I couldn`t pay too much attention ...I had to go to work

Well...long story short...
My wife "talked me into" not going to work until maybe later...alot later

So I go back to bed and get up at 7 am..

I go get a cup of coffee, and settle into my office chair ,and of course start cruising the forum...
t`s now 10:30 and I can`t peel myself away from the tunes !!!

These baby`s get better every hour they play !
I am very happy that I got advise from you guys...and actually listened to it (as usual)..

These tubes ar every dynamic...great imaging (3D)...The bass has tightened up and the mids are much more present...the highs are just beautiful, tight , crisp....

I hear detail like I was hoping for when I decided to get these..

I have the Popes in the stage, and the Hytrons in the follower position...I believe (correct me if I`m wrong) that the sound hits the Hytrons, gets focused and is fed to the line tubes and is sent to the amp...

UpScale Audio (no affil) is where I got these from...I can`t say enough about Keven and UpScale....just outstanding IMHO

If you are in the market for some 6SN7GT`s, check out the Popes, and the Hytrons @ UpScale Audio...you won`t be disapointed

They (hopefully) will only get better with time...
Tubes are subjective, as is audio, and it`s easy to get the wrong "flavor" when rolling tubes, but Keven hit the nail on the head (on his website) when describing these two tubes

I am very happy with these baby`s, and now I think I need to put the new Gold Pin Electro`s on the ol Jolida, that I just got here in the FM (thanks Marv) to see how they blend in...

And since both pairs of the new tbes have the same amount of time on them (approx 60 hrs), I can swap them back and forth to see which ones work best in front..

looks like I may be reeeeeal late to work today...if I make it at all...!!!

Tubes Rule !

You just as well stay home and take advantage of the situation. There are worse ways to spend afternoon than with a freshly dialed-in rig. Going to work is one of them. Set back and enjoy those tunes.

Your right about Kevin and Upscale Audio. I got my PrimaLuna Prologue 4 from them. It's the best audio deal I had in years.

Congrats on the burn-in. That first disappointing sound feels terrible. Glad it worked out.
