What is the lowest ground clearance a 6 cyl. AWD could have and still "safely" handle in a 10" snow (dry or wet)?

    10".

If you go lower than the height of the snow on the ground, you'll be plowing with it, which will reduce handling. You would also run the risk of getting high-centered at intersections, especially in a wet packing snow.

I don't have one to measure, but I'm prett sure my dad's subaru isn't 10" off the ground at the front....
    Ludicrous gibs!

Good question, I'll be able to answer this next winter when my car is about 1.5" lower all the way around.

Stock my g35 is relatively low to the ground in the front with the little lip. I know I did some plowing last year but the car went right through it.

I'm not too sure, but I'd think 10" also.

They're right, about 10" overall. You don't want to be plowing the stuff and if it packed up it's bobsled time. A small something like a differential could hang down lower than that but I wouldn't want much drag in the snow.

I never was much of a truck guy, but when I got my Jeep I learned just how useless a regular car was on any kind of non-pavement.

Something about plowing the snow with the underbody of any vehicle would scare me...

And I find cars to be pretty useless all together ;)

I'm speaking of fresh fallen snow, not packed yet...
