Which Ones
Hey guys, I am new to the boards, I have just recently purchased a set of Polk Audio speakers R50's and a PSW10, I have a Cerwin Vega center chanel from a long time ago, I am stuck on what to get for the rear speakers any suggestions?
It is a fairly narrow but long room, I am also a bass junkie and was looking at getting another sub.

How much do you want to spend on a sub?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Replace the center channel before you do anything else.

I already have a sub so that is covered, they will be wall mounted facing at a down angle towards the back of my head or whoever is sitting on the couch, sorry the center chanel is gonna stay for now. I just want good all around sound

Not to be rude, and there is no tone associated with my reply but what is the fascination with the CV center channel?
I'm not a CV basher, hell I have a set of mint top of the line Cerwin Vega DX-9's that cost my $1200 back in 1997 sitting in my garage.
You say you want good sound, but you'll get "GREAT" sound getting a center channel that matches the rest of your system.
Did you adjust your AVR levels to account for the different sensitivity levels of the different speakers in your system?
For example:
My front soundstage (ALL RTI12's) is 1db more sensitive then my rears, which are FXi5's.
On my AVR I have adjusted the rear's +1 db to compensate and make them all matched.
Trust me when I say you want to attack the center before ANYTHING else, unless you have polk drivers/crossover in that CV cabinet. -
Everyone has there own opinion, the center chanel that I have is practically brand new, I have hardly ever used it and so far I dont findanything wrong with it. Once I get everything set up then it may be a different story.
I still have to play around with all the settings -
I agree with XJRGUY. It is very important to blend the soundstage across the front. The fronts and center should be the same make and optimally have the same tweeters (and similar drivers) to maintain the same tonal quality. The rears are of little importance when compared to the center. I don't care how new the CV is....sell it and get the Polk CSR center that blends with the R50s or sell the R50s and get fronts to match the center.
Use the R15s for surrounds.
The sub needs to be upgraded as well...the PSW10 will show its limitation VERY quickly."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais
"For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible." - Stuart Chase
"Consistency requires you to be as ignorant today as you were a year ago." - Bernard Berenson -
I can't blame Sean for wanting to keep his CC. None of my speakers match either & it all sounds great. I think that it is far more important to make sure he calibrates everything.
So Sean, get the R15's as Shack suggested & then go to Radio Shack & get an SPL meter & calibrate everything once you get it set up.

for rear speakers go with FXi3's or 5's. then add another beefier subwoofer.. and you should be set.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
