Zombieboy wanted to know about my AZs

. . . the PM ran long so I just decided to post it for all to see.
I don't think I ever reviewed the Adagios on this forum. Honestly, until recently the majority of my setup simply did not do the Adagios justice. I plan on updating my Showcase and reviewing my entire system (focusing on my Adagios once I get my new speaker cables and preamp.)
My System will be as follows:
Nearly every Cable you can think of is Signal Ultra, Analog II, Magic Power or Magic Power Digital.
Cambridge Audio Azur 840C
Welborne Ultrapath BP Tube Preamp
Odyssey Audio Khartgo w/ Stratos Mod
Acoustic Zen Adagios
Definitive Technology Supercube I
My walls are also surrounded with GIK Acoustic Treatments.
I plan on replacing the amp in 6 months or so, but for now this is good.
As a short opinion, these are the best speakers I have ever owned and the best I have ever heard in their price range and a few $1000 above. The clarity of the ribbon tweeter is astounding and really melds well with tubes.
Also, the bass output is pretty prodigious, but only goes to about 30hz.
The clarity of the speaker is a little deceiving when it comes to volume. I can't seem to push these things too hard. My ears give up way before the Adagios show any sign of stress. I have never seen any sign. The music always remains musical and clear.
Thinking about the volume, another issue I now have is that because the speakers are so clear and smooth, I find myself turning the volume up more and more as it just sounds soo good and unfatiuging. The issue is that this is likely not good for my ears so I have to watch it. Not at all a bad thing, but just something to consider.
Oh another thing, these things image like crazy. First thing I notice over my Lsi15s (which by the way IMHO image really really well.) was that the speakers throw now only a wide image, but an extremely tall one as well. Honestly, with the right recording, it feels like surround sound.
I think that's about it. Any other questions?

Thanks for the review. As soon as I get settled, these are on my VERY short list. At 89db, your Khartago should be mating just fine. Though I imagine your desire for a beefy tube amp is making its siren song.
Gawd, I really want to place my ears on these in the right setting. Or any setting. Congrats.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
Actually, I've been looking in the complete opposite direction. Tubes are great, but the constant wondering if the sound has degraded to a point where I need new tubes is frustrating. I want a nice beefy set of SS monoblocks. I like the tueb pre with SS amp combo. It suits my needs and tastes very well.

I gotcha. A nice tube pre partnered with some Popeye monos. You'll be all set. Doesn't change the fact that I'm envious as hell. I've been reading up on these for over a year and if I can dredge up a local dealer in Hotlanta, I'm going to have to take a day off to get my groove on.

If you do get a chance to listen to these babies and decide you want them, there are always good deals on audiogon for like $2000. . . . unless of course you like all your stuff new.
