Frys is selling RTI8's for $149.00 each
Just checked on the website. Shipping was about $60.00 to the DC area. I didn't buy any, but what an unbelievable price! Go get them!

Buy them separate and the shipping is cheaper. I just ordered two yesterday.
$17.67 shipping for just one to here
$50.00 shipping for both at the same time
I can't wait to get mine hopefully Friday but probably Monday . Anyway they shipped today via DHL so I guess it depends how fast DHL delivers. I ordered my fxi3 and CSi5 yesterday from Crutchfield and they'll be here tomorrow!Pioneer vsx-1120k, B&K Sonata series video-5 amplifier, Polk Rti8, Fxi3, Csi5, and HSU VTF-1 -
Crutchfield's shipping is super fast!!
i got the RTi10s and they do sound good, but a bit boomy for my taste, i wonder if the RTi8s have better highs? -

After reading the "booming comment" on the 10's I have finally decided on the 8's; I will be upgrading to the csi5 CC and oh BTW... the fxi3 are fantastic speakers. I am checking $ all over the net; and the rti series (whats left of them are getting deeper discounts all the time).Dedicated HT: JVC RS-2 Proj; Carada 104' fixed screen; Yamaha RXZ-7; Outlaw 7 X 200; Toshiba HDXA2; Blu Ray Panasonic 30; Polk Rti10's;

can't you kill the boom with crossover points? Now you've got me excited about the fxi3 but afraid of the rti8Pioneer vsx-1120k, B&K Sonata series video-5 amplifier, Polk Rti8, Fxi3, Csi5, and HSU VTF-1

That seems like a real steal. What gives????
What is you experience with FRYS????
and any problems with returns?
They are well in the budget at that price. -
My 10's never 'boomed'. You guys need to invest a little in your electronics.
The 8's are a steal at that price, I wouldn't hesitate.
Cheers,

I picked up a pair in-store on Black Friday for that price. For $300 is was too good not to try them out. The problem now is that I also first bought the 10's on sale for $500 and then grab the 12's for $700. I guess I just wanted to try out the 8's too
Now i need to figure out which ones I am going to keep and which ones to sell. Might go with the 8's since I can power those with my Denon and remove the Outlaw monoblocks from my rack.
Anyone in the Bay Area interested in some speakers shot me a PM! -

Keep the 10s or 12s since you already have Outlaws to power them.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I would completely agree but I am moving (from a house with a large living room) into an appartment soon and thinking that the Outlaws with the 12s will never be used at all. Plus would need to look into power requirements.
I do some testing at lower volumes and see if my ears can tell a big difference between the 12s and the 8s. -

I've ordered two sets of speakers from them and they have gotten here very quickly. I would have gotten my RTi8s today had it not been for no one home and the DHL driver not wanting to leave them since they came in a box showing what they were. I have no experience on returning anything to FRY's but I have read about them being a bit fussy though they still take things back.Pioneer vsx-1120k, B&K Sonata series video-5 amplifier, Polk Rti8, Fxi3, Csi5, and HSU VTF-1 -
You just need to make sure you have your receipt, packaging and within the time frame and you shouldn't have an issue. Fry's is extremly picky about that stuck and if you go into saying you lost your receipt or past 30 days etc, they will probably tell you to take a hike.

I was going to write a big post on this, but it is pointless since you guys already mentioned it. You may want to check out the site StingyDave.org since links to both the black and cherry RTi8s are up there.
Also, there's a deal on the PSW10 sub that more or less goes with them.
Enjoy. -
Thanks for posting this!!
I ordered a set for my rear channels to replace my 12 year old rt12's that I run in the back of my HT!
Total with tax for me shipped was about $400. EXCELLENT DEAL!!!
Should get them in any day!Testing

I ordered a pair of the rti8s yesterday and they were back ordered. I was also thinking about ordering the csr for the center speaker. Will this balance out with the 8s ok. I need to keep the cost down for right now. I hope to purchase an Onkyo 605 later but for now taxes and Santa need to be paid. By the way I'm a noob when it comes to HT and audio equipment. After I get this Onkyo ht-r520 repaired (anybody got a schematic?) I will be using it for my HT.
I think that I may have hijacked this thread. I apologize for doing that. -

who has the best price on the csi3 or 5?
-
CSi5 is $225 including 3 day shipping on onecall.com. They don't seem to have the 3 anymore, though. I bought my CSi5 from them at that price and love it!

I just received my csi5 from onecall today after ordering it on sunday ($225 shipped), upgraded from a cs1 and just received rti6's upgraded from monitor 40's. Wonderful sound. Still might jump on the 8's though, it's such a good price. Anyone gone from the 6's to the 8's? I'm pushing my 6's (bi-wired) with the onkyo 705 as a pre and the emo lpa-1 amp and they really fill my room nice. They have a much nicer higher end than the 40's. The csi5 (bi-wired as well) just blows the cs1 away and blends in real nice with 6's.

Crutchfield has it for $299 shipped and onecall.com has it for $28x shipped in cherry only as the black is $299 plus shipping.Pioneer vsx-1120k, B&K Sonata series video-5 amplifier, Polk Rti8, Fxi3, Csi5, and HSU VTF-1 -
I'd appreciate any help in my decision making & thanks in advance.
I ordered from Frys but their customer service says Polk's next shipment to them will be 12/23/07. So I'm guessing I won't get them until beginning of next year - guessing 1/7/08. I think I can cancel anytime until it ships to me. Should I wait on the 2 fronts I've got ordered? Or cancel and order anew? Hence, my dilemma.
Center: CSi3 (got it now)
Surround (5.1 plan): RTi4s (got em)
AVR: Onkyo 805 (ETA: 12/13/07)
Sub: eD A5-350 (ETA: 1/15/07)
Room (LxWxH): 17x14.5x9.5, carpeted
Fronts: ????
TV: Pioneer 6010 (that is the long-term plan - I don't plan on buying until late 1st quarter - 2nd quarter 2008)
My options are:
1) Just wait and fegedabowdid. It's a perfect match for the other gear/room and price can't be beat, esp considering sub will more than suffice for lows? Use the RTi4s as fronts until then.
2) Just wait and keep looking for other deals on RTi8's. If anything better shows up, cancel Frys and order the better deal (high doubts on this happening though, right?). Possibly pay more to get them now (J&R @ $440 for 2 incl. shipping - $90 more than Frys).
3) Look for something else timbre-matched (RTi10s). But considering other gear, could get boomy - Polk doesn't recommend RTi10's for the center and surround. Again, to get fronts now. Are there other front speakers I should consider?
Aside: Anyone care to comment on bi-amping? The Onkyo manual says:
"The FRONT L/R and SURR BACK L/R terminal posts can be used with front speakers and surround back speakers respectively, or bi-amped to provide separate tweeter and woofer feeds for a pair of front speakers that
support bi-amping, providing improved bass and treble performance."
I would be planning on doing this because of what the manual states, but one article says it's a waste of time and only recommended in stadiums. Hmmmm...
I'll post this "aside" again in another post so chose to ignore that bit if you wish.
Thanks again. -
Got my Rti8's in late last week and plugged them up as my rear channels. Great speaker. While the design is pretty much the same as the Rt12's I have (2 woofer one tweeter) the rti8 is much bigger. I've broken them in pretty good this weekend, they sound great, much better the 12 year old rt12's. I dinked around with the cross over on them and right now I have them set at 50 which is getting some decent bass from them.
Awesome speaker. Some day I GOT to try out those rta series speakers.Testing

I also have the Onkyo 805, I dont think you would need to consider biamping with a set of rti8's if you bought them. If you go to the rti10+ you might but at that point I would suggest you use the preouts to a seperate amp (like an Outlaw 2200 monoblock). I already blew one 805 and that was when I first got it and tried running my tri12's off it. fizzle... fizzle.. fizzle. It was within 3 weeks so I took it back to CC and got a new one and bought a 5 year plan to go with it.
As far as the room goes, if you move up to the Rti10 or 12 you should consider room size.Testing

Hey guys... I was curious if someone can do me a huge favor.
The past three days, I've been looking and looking for either these or the rti10's. the rti10's are ALL sold out and the rti8's are only available in oak (I want black) around here. I called fry's and a few other online retailers and nobody is willing to ship to Canada.
I was curious if there is someone trustworthy out there, that I can have the speakers shipped to, and then they can ship them to me. I will buy them online and have them shipped to your location. Then I will send you either money order or paypal to cover shipping cost to Canada, and I'll also throw in an extra $50 for your generosity. Please PM me if you're interested or email me at omid (underscore) 87 (at) hotmail (dot) com. I would really appreciate it. -

I ordered my RTi8 from Fry's on the 26th and got them on the 31st. Rti is not boomy at all. It's lacking the boom in fact. A sub can fix that easily. -
