My sister and brother-in-law are wanting a DVD recorder for Christmas(not the combo with VCR) so that they can record stuff from their DVR and camcorder onto DVD's. They do not currently have HD, don't really care about upconverting anything, DTS Master Audio is not necessary. In other words, they only need something that works well at both playing and recording DVD's and will give them trouble free service for many years to come. If it happens to come with all the bells and whistles, that's fine, it just isn't a deal breaker if it doesn't.
Let's try not to piss Justin off anymore so just list up what you may already own, or have heard are great products or are not great products. No arguing, this is a Christmas present thread.

I know just enough to be dangerous, but don't tell my wife, she thinks I'm a genius.
