hey everybody its been a while since ive last posted. so i have been thinking about re-doing my system because i never got quite what i wanted out of it up to this point
i would like to know what your opinions are on how this would sound...
(1) JL Audio 13W7 13.5" Subwoofer
(1) JL Audio 1000/1v2 1000W RMS Class D Monoblock Subwoofer Amplifier
(2) Polk SR6500 Component Speakers
(1) Polk SR5250 Component Speakers
(1) Alpine PDX-4.150 4 Channel Amplifier
(1) Alpine PDX-2.150 2 Channel Amplifier

..please give me opinions of this equipment if anybody has personal experience with any of it.. i dont want bass that overpowers my mids and highs, but i was hoping 3 sets of polk sr components would take care of that.. i dont know much about the alpine amps, but i like alpine and have had good experience with their products.. if anybody would like to suggest alternatives, please, by all means, be my guest.
System in construction.. :)

Looks pretty damn solid. The end result will depend on how well its installed and tuned but you couldnt do much better in terms of quality of the equipment.

Those alpine amps are some of the most advanced amps on the market right now. They have a feedback system built into these amps that compares the amps output signal against the original music signal. If there are any differences found between the two, the feedback circuit automatically removes the distortion in realtime.

I have had experience with all of it and it looks like you are set. What source unit are you going with? Send pics when you are through. Very nice indeed!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a very nice setup! I'm kind of with toxis, though... why 3 sets of comps?

yeah i was wondering that and i would like your advice as far as that goes. do you not think i would need 3 sets? i was only worrying that the W7's bass would overpower 2 sets and i would like it to sound balanced. would just 2 sets of the SR's work just as well? better? worse? thanks for your comments so far, please let me know if you can help further :)

I would really think about having just one set up front (unless you absolutely have to have rear fill). Too many higher frequency drivers mounted in multiple locations will ruin the imaging possible with just one well-placed component set.

If you're concerned about the W7 overpowering your front stage, you could lower the gains for the sub to balance the output across the entire frequency spectrum.

Youre not going to need more than 1 set of speakers unless youre just wanting rear fill (which I dont think you need). As for the bass overpowering the front stage, that shouldnt be a problem. The sub will be playing from 70-80 and down and the front stage will take over from there and up so unless youve just got the sub's level set way too high it wont be a problem.

I agree with what they said. Then you can use the pdx-4.150 to bi-amp the sr's and use the money you saved for a processor. That right there would make a great setup imo.

looks good i would bet that a 500/1 would be more than enough to make that 13w7 pound. i heard a 12w7 powered by a 500/1 before and it shook the entire building. i would switch the alpine amps out for jl 450/4 and 300/2 the fronts can have 150 each and the rears 75. i have a 300/4 in my car now running diamond hex s600s and i cant even turn m eclipse over 60 of 80 because its that loud. i have the amplifiers set to jl's specified voltage using a 1k sine wave at 60 so the speaks are only getting 75w at the point i can no longer stand to be in the car. the jl 500/1 puts out around 600wrms in actual power adn the 300/4 is around 90x4 http://www.carsound.com/reviews/amps/jl_5001.html

I would stay with the PDX line as it seems most agree with. The Amp is cleaner and sounds cleaner. I also have the 450/4 and 500/1 in my truck and to me the PDX that is in my other suv sounds better. I agree with only going one set and ad a processor like the Alpine H701 will give you more tweaking if you Bi-Amp off the PDX4.150 and do not do REAR FILL it will kill the soundstage and it seems like you cant get the back low enough to not hear them coming from behind. I have the PDX4.150 and the PDX1000.1 and have decided to Bi-Amp my SR's off the PDX4.150 and run my 2 Morel Ultimo 10" off the PDX1000.1 and am thinking about ordering another PDX1000.1 so each sub has it own 1000 watts.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!
