Amps too much power for car to handle?

So you hae a potential max current draw of 200 amps and youve only got an 80 amp fuse?
Yeah, Id say your fuse could be the problem.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Drop the AGU fuse setup and get an ANL or circuit breaker.

do you have a link for a circuit breaker that works in a car. Or will a normal AC (home) circuit breaker work?

You can get a circuit breaker, that way if your fuse blows, you don't have to keep buying new ones

Eloplayspolo, I was just wondering if you were able to figure out what the problem was... is it possible that the problem is with the amps and not with your car's electrical system?
-
Just buy you a alpine pdx amp! That will solve your problem. They draw a lot less current for the power they put out. You could do a 100 amps of draw on your system verses 200 amps with your current setup.

seems like they are workign fine now, i still need to finish install its been rainy over her a bit or at least really damp and cold2013 Toyota Prius

Your max fuse size should be based on what size power/ground wire you use & not on what your amps draw. In your case with 4gauge you could use a 125amp fuse & if you need more than you will have to upgrade your wiring. http://www.bcae1.com/wire.htm
-
What are you using as a remote for the amps, the remote out of the h.u? If the amps are powering down for no apparent reason, the remote may be tripping, or may have a loose connection somewhere. Why not try wiring the remote directly to the acc in the fusebox?
-
heh too much work manila. i dont think its the remote... but i never thought of that, imma try a few things.2013 Toyota Prius

Rule of thumb remember 8 gauge power wire will pull 60 amps of current but thats it. If your amp has over 60 amp fuses in it you must upgrade to 4 gauge power wire.

If you have a 80 amp fuse and you are not drawing that much power then your amps should not cut on and off. There may be a problem with your AGU fuse holder in that the resistance build up due to the increased current draw may cause a voltage drop. Most of the time the fuse holder will just melt. Did you replace this fuse holder yet?
