Just brought home my first pair of Polk speakers this weekend.
Monitor 10B.
I am thrilled with them...absolutely love them.:D
Best of the 14 pair of speakers I have (including Boston Acoustics A-150).

Welcome to Club Polk. I love the old paper cone mids, and passive radiators that come with the vintage line. Stick around, and learn a little about modding them into great speakers. I doesn't take much to really make them sing.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

nice going.. that's a great way to be introduced to vintage Polk Audio speakers..
and welcome to the forum. introduce yourself and hang out here..
Pssst, it can be addicting here. LOLPolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Welcome to CP!
Vintage Polks hold a special place in my heart since I seem to prefer the bass from sealed speakers, but like the efficiency of ported models. Polks have always seemed to bridge that gap for me, and I like the value that all of their models possess.
Those 10Bs are nice examples. Did you get some original tilted stands with them?HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Bob from New Hampshire...
been into audio since the '70's when I worked in the audio industry.
Love these speakers...they remind me of the Fried model Q's I had in the late '70's---only better.
Dennis--I did not get the stands with them...original owner says he never had them?
I do have them off the floor---sitting on top of 26" high speakers--lol.
And they do sound better there than on floor.
Glad to be here...thanks again

If you decide to hold onto these for long, here is a thread on making some stands close to the original Polk specs.

Thanks much Dennis.
I will check that out, as I do plan on keeping these forever.

Hi Bob, welcome. How far up in New Hampshire?
Nice to see more members from the New England area joining! -
BaggedLancer...thanks for the welcome.
I'm located just about the middle of the state, both N-S and E-W.
A little town named Salisbury.
Are you in MA or NH?
Bob -
MA. North Reading. I do most of xmas shopping in Salem....gotta take advantage of your no taxes!
-
One day my tunnel to NH will be complete. <cue "Great Escape" theme>
-
John in MA
I caught your hint.
I do believe I know you...are you the John whom is very good friends with "Deli"?
I would PM you but my post count has to be 10 or greater to PM.
Perhaps you can PM me?
Bob -
Deli from AK? You might have the wrong John, I know him but not very well.
-
Ahhh OK...wrong John...my apologies.
But you are welcome to come to NH whenever that tunnel is complete.
Good vintage audio folks are always welcome.
Bob -
Johns of the world are many in number. We are the alpha and omega.
-
Did you post at AudioKarma under the name vintagestereo?
-
George
close..... I did and do post at AK as "vintageaudio" not "vintagestereo"....
I believe there is a "vintagestereo" there also...but that is not me.
Bob -
Thanks Bob. Vintagestereo USED to post there. He got banned.
-
He was an odd one. Never figured out what his deal was.
-
George
Do I dare ask why he got banned?
And what town in NJ are you? I lived in NJ for 50 years......
Bob -
Because he's a pompous, long-winded ****?
I live right outside Mount Holly in a charming community of vipers and werewolves called Eastampton Township. South/Central part of the state, closer to the Delaware than the Atlantic.
I hung around Portsmouth and Durham a little a bunch of years ago, but I don't remember much at all. -
My mother's family is from NJ. Had my cousin not been ill I would have gone back this year for Thanksgiving with his family. She grew up in Glen Ridge, and later Garden City.
-
George--OK well, I suppose AK is better off without him then....lol
Geroge and John--I lived my first 20 years in North Jersey--Passaic County.
And then 30 years in Brick Township, Ocean County.
And I am loving those Monitor 10B's ...listened to a ton of stuff tonight that I haven't listened to in a while...Wow!
Bob -
Congrat's vintageaudio and welcome to Club Polk.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~
-
treitz3---thank you!
I think I'm gonna like visiting here almost as much as listening to my Polks.:)
Bob -
