right now i've got my cable box audio into my integrated amp and the video into my plasma. the tv came w/speakers that can be attached/detached. right now they are NOT hooked up. is there an easy way to use the tv's speakers as sort of a center channel. my amp does not provide for that. the key word here is "easy" LOL

Not knowing what brands / models you are using, can you not just plug the two TV speakers into the TV and use as your "center"? It will not be processed as a separate channel, but will at least give you a center "effect". As far as I know, there is no simple way to get a true center channel unless you have an appropriate processor or A/V receiver to split the signals properly.

if i buy appropriate amp, will i be able to run just stereo (2 channel) for music? i don't think i can do it the way you suggested because cable audio runs into pre-amp, not tv. thanks.

    That's what you have.
