SPL readings, does this seem right?
Sorry if you are reading this 2x. I meant to create a new post here
I just tried out my Radio Shack SPL and this is what I ended up with after calibration. LF= 0, C= -3, RF= 0 and Sub is -7.
My LF/RF are about 11ft from listening position and Center is about 11.5 and above TV probably 3 feet above listening position but angled down. The sub is right behind LF and that's the only place it can go.
Does this seem about right? The sub at -7 seems awfully low. Love to get some feedback

this seems right to me. what sub are you using? if it's a big beefy one. then yeah it's prob spot on.. if it's a tiny sub, then it's prob to low.
my sub is -2 and it pounds your face off.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

The sub reading is dependent on the volume on the sub itself. You may be running it pretty hot in order to require a 7 dB adjustment.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

I have a MartinLogan Dynamo and use the Onkyo's bass management to control it. I was under the impression that the control's on the sub don't get used if I have my receiver set to manage the sub. Any comments or help on that would be appreciated. This forum has been a great help to me over the past 2 weeks I've been reading and learningOnkyo TX-SR805

On most subs it's still dependent on the volume on the back of the sub. Meaning the sub's level + the level in the Onkyo = the final level.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

Ok. I didnt realize that. My sub is physically set at 5 on a 0 - 10 scale. And just to clarify the LPF physical setting on the sub is cancelled out by whatever I set the LPF of the LFE on the receiver, right? So much to learn, so many forum posts to read up on.

Turn the crossover on the sub all the way up (just be sure), Bypass the crossover on the back of the sub if at all possible. (either a switch or LFE input RCA jack), turn the volume 1/2 way on the sub (where you are at), adjust in the AVR to somewhere in the negative numbers (You are good here as well).
All that and you are done. Sounds about right to me...
