Slim PS2 problems

I've been having problems with my Slim PS2 not playing any of my PS1 games. Has anybody else had the same problem or at least know how to fix this? I've got all of the Resident Evil games for PS1 and I'm a nut for Resident Evil and can't play my RE games for PS1. Can anybody help me out?

Do the games have the bluish backing to them. (Meaning the readible side is blue?) If so that is probably your problem. When I had a ps2 way back in the day I had issues with that. At first the system would read the disks but as time went on it would stop reading them. -
We just bought one to replace my dead PS3 that I bought when they first came out (it wouldn’t play the blue disks). I tested all my PS2/PS1 games (because the old one scratched a bunch) and they all worked fine for me. But we don’t have that many games.Testing

No they're the black discs. I just now went and made sure.

Hmm Black...blue I don't think it really matters. The problem is the coloring screws up the laser making it harder and harder for it to read.

So what do you think I can do about that?
